it will tell you the smart data of the drive.
Just because it says its good doesn't mean it won't die at any time.
That drive seems fine.

I don't remember exactly but it's something like 70% of people won't change their opinion even if facts are presented to show otherwise.

Crunchy Dragon reacted to SansVarnic in Toothpaste as Temporary Thermal Paste replacement?
Please do not substitute anything to use on your pc until you get the proper stuff. A $12-$25 usd tube of the proper thermal paste is not worth the loss of your $500 to $1500+ rig.
I'm being serious.

Interesting. Does your boss's laptop run long enough for you to sysprep the drive and then try booting from it in your PC?

Just gonna double check, but it is connected to the Internet right?
It might be that Microsoft took down those servers since XP has been EOL for years.

My plan is to not give the host it's own GPU but we'll have to see how I like that. SSHing into the host may turn out to be a pain especially if I'm planning to take this to LAN events. But I think 4 cores for each of the 3 gaming VMs plus leaving 4 cores for the host to do NAS/Server stuff for the VMs.
Speaking of LANs I do have tickets for Dreamhack Austin and PDX LAN 32A if anyone is going to those. PDX LAN has power supply and monitor limitations so I had to buy two seats to take this monster, I hope dreamhack doesn't give me problems because I couldn't find anything against this.... And If my friends don't game on my machine with me it would be funny to turn off the VM setup and just do triple monitor surround gaming.

Here's to hoping this doesn't fail as often as the X62 did. *raises beer*

Maybe try just one ram module at a time, could be that you have a dead ram slot on your mobo

Chances are your PSU can't power the GPU at all and only enough to run the fan. I personally wouldn't trust it for much, replace it with a CX450M.

Crunchy Dragon got a reaction from Canada EH in So What Exactly Happened With Vega?
Word got out that it was amazing for mining and it's been out of stock ever since, really.
One thing to mention is that Vega 64 and the GTX 1080 were more or less on par, but overall the 1080 was the better option due to higher availability(at the time) and lower price(also at the time).

I've seen 50/50 posts about it being able to power it or not but since the M91P I got was refurbed I don't doubt it isn't enough. I've got an old Corsair 650W I'm going to chuck in there tonight and see how that works.
Thanks!

Crunchy Dragon reacted to Oshino Shinobu in All these computer cases without external drive bay
That's a really small drive.
He means two 5.25" drive bays, three internal 3.5" bays and one 2.5". I'd assume by external, he means 5.25", which have external access for things like optical drives. They're often referred to as external drive bays.

Intro
Now that the mainstream can get crazy core counts for not insane prices, I've been wanting to do a multi user system. A workstation by day, LAN party by night. I have 2 rx480s with copper blocks on them so far, I am in discussions to get a third. So I'm thinking, a 3 headed monster with a dedicated server? 4 cores and 16 gb of ram each, with lots of watercooling! I've narrowed down a few cases and designs, more to come on that later. But right now, things are coming in... Let's do this!
First I must say a big thank you to AMD, Corsair, and V1Tech for sponsoring me with the cpu, motherboard, ram, case, powersupply, and custom aesthetic pieces. I had just upgraded to Ryzen and I must say if that's the a powerhouse, then threadripper is a monster! A Kaiju, if you will?
