Seeing as it's kinda old and you can buy it new for like $90 now (looking around at a couple sites) I'd probably try to sell it at first for $50 for a couple weeks, if not then drop it to $30-40

Right now, there is still a lot of updating and work to be done by AMD to get the Linux drivers just right.
On it's current state, the performance get less crippled on Nvidia cards. So go with that.

This are comparative benchmarks done by Phoronix.

I'd recommend you get a GTX 960, it has good value and is pretty much rockin' driver-wise in Linux.

It is not difficult getting driver in ubuntu for either. Just head to their website if it's not offered on the disk that comes with it.

If you're hesitant about AMD, Nvidia's cards are absolutely great. I absolutely love my 970.

I think it is the drivers, maybe I'm not 100% sure. But both should ''work''. The games you listed could be ran on a intel HD 4400 at high def so it's good ether way.

Pick the card you like best, not which one will work.
Both of them will work just fine with Linux and Windows - both of them are known to work just fine with each OS.

    Hope this helps

Edit: I do not own a computer with Linux installed but my friend does with an AMD card and his works fine

Basically if it plays netflix and Youtube in HD you're good to go. NUCs and netbooks are fine.

    1. Try buying a pre-built one then from some retailers. Don't know any in the US (Assuming you're from there), but in Canada I know NCIX, Canada Computers and I believe Tiger Direct (though they are normally more expensive) make builds. I believe they also come with warranties

    2. Pick reputable parts for your build that are new, and have warranty. Then just return and request a new one if its broken. I was able to get parts from Corsair in replacement for my damaged ones easily, just by sending the infos.

Plus, I completely agree with this guy. People are judgmental on first glance. Then you realize how simple it is later on. I understand where the worry comes from, and if I had a kid asking for a butt ton of money for a weird machine that possibly wouldn't work, I would walk the same route at first. Just try reasoning. You can also ask for $400 and say you have no interest in the PS4 and you will just save it for future use.

All else fails, take the PS4, and save up. Get both slowly but surely

How about we go with a non-knee jerk  PC master race reaction

If GTA 5 is the only game you would get on the console, that could be a bit of a waste. But if there are other exclusives that catch your eye and no way to potentially wrangle the money the ps4 would cost to be saved up for a PC, I'd get the PS4 to tide myself over till I could save up. By the time that happens, GTA V on PC should be cheap anyway so if you want to buy it again, not much of a loss there.

If you have nothing else to game on for a couple years, PS4 really isn't bad of an idea. It's going to get the better 3rd party versions of games (of course barring PC...) and a good selection of 1st party games from Sony.

Find a reputable shop that does pre-builts that only charge an extra $100 or so on top of the price of the original components.

    Why not both?
Why don't you just get the PS4 for free and then save up for PC once you get a job

    That's really nice of them!

Here are a few things to consider about a PS4:
-you have to pay for online games (ps plus), but you do get to receive "free" games as long as your subscription doesn't end.
-if you want a PS4, it's ultimately your decision.  (there are some nice exclusives for it)

Don't trade them in to Gamestop at all. They will rip you off massively.

However, if you must do it, I'd say get rid of the Wii.

surface 1 or 2, Honestly I don't think you can find anything better for productivity. Though an Android tablet would do a decent job too, with an add on keyboard.

Itll work fine but unstable. I have sidewinders on my sector 9 and it lets me hella carve. Putting them on a penny gives an uber tight and sensitive turn radius

Don't get sidewinders, terrible trucks. But that's from my perspective in racing. For cruising they may be fine but for downhill the end of the hanger sits very loosely in the pivot and isn't snug at all. Turns feel sloppy (which could be good for carving I guess) and they are pretty un stable. Calibers are the best cast trucks you can get so I'd definitely look at those.

Just try it, it'll look a little funny but you'll still be able to jam.
I can't ride those penny boards at all, which is strange, because I'm an avid skater.

When in windows open an elevated command prompt and execute:
sfc /scannow try running it 2 or 3 times as sometimes things don't get automatically detected.
