Swiftech seems to be having problems with leaking and poor customer service/forum response with the new ones. I have an old H220 (no x/x2/x2 prestige) and I was looking at possibly upgrading since it appears my pump is making a lot of noise (after 2.5 years). I haven't tried going through support since it's technically a 3 year warranty and I'm pretty close. I was looking at the new H240x2 prestige - because I admit they look awesome, but I'm seriously contemplating not getting one because of what I see. I was looking at the EKWB Predators, not as flashy but they have a lot of people saying great things about them.

Zeo2002 got a reaction from Kurosaki Isshin in HP told to choose between becoming contractors with no benefits or being fired without severance
In the USA, in most states, employment is "at will" and this is what can happen.

The amusing thing I've been told by HR when they tried to get me to sign a non-compete (technically non-solicitation with non-compete language) when I stated my worries that I'm an at will worker was "Well, we offer a severance package to help protect you.". I wasn't aware of that package and when I looked at it, the wording in the "agreement" stated "You may become entitled to receive benefits under the [severance pay] plan if, on or after the Effective Date:... and (5) you are an individual to whom the Company elects, in its sole discretion to extend the Plan." So -- what they are actually saying is "we have this little bit of carrot out here, but we never promise that we actually have to give you the carrot".

This is why it's extremely important for every employee to look and read what they are signing.

FYI: I didn't sign the non-compete (no promotion, move within the company, contract or extra money was offered), they terminated me after 4 years of service without cause and elected to not extend severance pay for me. Took me 18 months to find another equivalent full time employment, but it's still the same choice I would make - even in hindsight.

How I handle these cards - go to Walmart (or some other department store I frequent) and buy a store gift card for the exact amount. Also, at most brick and mortar stores, you can use multiple credit cards - just tell them "please use X dollars on this card" and once they have done that, hand them another and say "place the rest on this".

Companies count on a few things when you're using MIR's, first and foremost, it makes you believe there is a "Sale" on the product and thus incites you to buy now. Otherwise, the list below I believe bares their thoughts on MIR's.

    1) That you don't take the time to read every detail of what you must do (activate product, MIR application, cut UPC, print receipt, etc). There are no second chances, if you forget or don't provide one small thing you will not get anything.
    2) That you find it too annoying/cumbersome to take the time to do the MIR .
    3) You procrastinate and/or forget past the required mailing date to send the MIR.
    4) The USPS fails to deliver the envelope. This is why I scan what I put in the envelope and the sealed envelope itself.
    5) That you forget about the MIR.

In regards to #5 - I had to email Thermaltake about my MIR after 2.5 months (they said it could be 6-8 weeks after receiving the MIR to process and send out the MIR). They responded with "Call this number" I did and was told they would look into it. Didn't hear back until about a week later saying my MIR was processed and being mailed.

So, count MIR's as a bonus only and know that instant savings are 10,000 times better than any MIR.

Zeo2002 reacted to silberdrachi in Watch Dogs sure does have a lot of preorder options...
Preorders are going to reach critical mass soon and people are going to realize that that all it results in is companies putting out better marketing to get people to buy the game before reviewers can say its a buggy piece of shit. (*cough*bf4*cough*)

90% of the time "Preorder exclusive bonuses* magically come out a few months later for a few bucks, so if you really want them wait and see if the game is even worth your money.

And to everyone taking a stand against the game by saying you will pirate it, that is total bullshit. If you arent willing to pay for a game on moral grounds, you dont get the right to rip the developers off by pirating their content. You dont get to pretend like youre getting one over on the bad guys, all you are doing is being a cheap asshole who is trying to hide behind moral outrage as an excuse for your illegal and immoral actions.

I hate preorders i think its a blight on video games, but you fuckers who think its an excuse to pirate are the ones who hurt the industry the most.

Zeo2002 got a reaction from hawaiims in Most useless deal on NEW LGA 1155 heatsinks and fan 18 of them for $120 WTF?! :( [US]
I have to admit, I laughed when I really thought of the conversation that you would have with your GF (based off your words and a little injection of my relationship).
Him: "Hey honey... please don't be mad at me, but there was this great deal on CPU's that I just had to get. It only costs 120 plus shipping, but don't worry, I got 18 of them and can easily sell them for 20 dollars to others and still be a great deal for them."
Her: "YOU WHAT? NO ONE SELLS THINGS THAT CHEAP UNLESS IT IS A SCAM!!! I can't believe I am even dating you, you better give me half of the profits - up front, pay up now."

Two weeks later when the shipment arrives.
Him: "Uhh... sweetie... you remember those CPU's I told you about for 120 dollars?"
Her: "Yea, did you finally figure you got scammed?"
Him: "No, they came, 18 boxes of CPU fans and heat sinks"
Her: "Wait, they sent you extra? What kind of idiot sold it so cheap and sent you extra? GREAT, more money for me... I mean us"
Him: "No, no, I thought I bought 18 CPU's, these are the fans and heat sinks"
Her: "Ohh, so you did get scammed - told you so!"
    Him: "Umm... not really."
    Her: <Looks at him quizzically>
Him: "They actually said on the listing that they were CPU Heatsinks and fans... I just didn't read correctly."

And this is what posting a "deal" on here can save you - your relationship status. Now that's a perfect reason to be on here so much and how I'm going to justify it to my GF now. Thanks!
