In my experience, they're usually just M2, M2.5, and M3 screws in various sizes. Sometimes the size is even molded into the case next to the screw boss.

Small metric screw assortments can be had for $5 to $15, and should include everything you need. (If you like tinkering, keep a couple different screw assortment kits on hand. You never know when you might need some!)

I just installed an Asrock 6800 XT in my Ryzen 5600 system last night. Playing Cyberpunk i was running about 134FPS at 1080p with GPU and CPU both running 75-98%. They were alternating, but generally running about the same amount of utilization. No bottleneck from what I could tell.

Everyone defending stock Zen coolers is talking about 1st and 2nd gen. 3rd gen coolers ARE shit. My 3600x cooler was a slab of aluminum wit no copper. I knew this going in from watching reviews and went straight for a hyper 212 with no regrets.

After adding the 140mm fan, CPU temps didn't get any better. Now this could be because the the craptacular OEM cooler, or it could because i removed the cooler twice after changing the TIM, with subsequently replacing it. Now I could have forked out $30 or so for a Cryrog H7 or something similar under 145mm, but why would I do that when I had a perfectly good CM 212+ collecting dust. Let the hackery begin.

    Hyper 212+ mounted

    Preliminary cuts made.

Final cuts made to bring the front edge forward, and a touch of black satin

Temps are now hovering ~45-46c with CPUz stress testing.

I would really like to thank the OP for posting his build. It informed me of the possibility of adding a new fan (I ended up cutting the back fan wires and splitting them so I could power both) by removing the HDD frame, but the PWM information was precious!
This computer was going to the trash bin (really) according to my (not-very-smart) former boss, so I took it, dumped the HDD, and put in a new Crucial 240GB SSD. At the time I was short on cash so simply updated the graphics with a Zotac GT 1030 - two years of happy potato gaming ^^
From the original Dell build I updated the BIOS, recently added more RAM for a total of 16GB, installed an i7-2600, and replaced the PSU with one that could provide more than 146W on the 3.3 and 5V rails (following the advice from user Speedstep on the official Dell forums).
Now I'm just waiting for a GTX 1080 to arrive  (let's see if I can still access the SATA connectors!)
    Thanks, asand1 !

asand1 reacted to VK707 in My Laptop GPU/CPU is thermal throttling. Why is that?
Are the Vents clear and the fan spinning - check your fan curve (the thing that regulates how hard it spins/blows at a given temp) or clean it out if not.
Do you set it onto a a Hard surface (like a desk) when gaming - say a blanket or cushion could trap the heat.

Possible Short Term fixes in any case:
Undervolting the GPU (less heat, same performance if done in moderation / correctly)
Getting one of those Cooling Pads

Edit: saw your reply to NZGamer - If all else fails try to reach out for repairs it should still be under warranty

My MSI b450-A Pro has been fine. The BIOS updates are overstated. I have been stable since before the Abba bios release. The non Max boards lack OC profiles and a flashy UI, but work great otherwise.

After enabling fan overide in BIOS, and enabling Dell mode in Speedfan, I was able to configure Speedfan and get the fans running at 500 and 600RPM. PC is almost silent now. Even gaming they are whisper quiet.
