Danger Warning reacted to minibois in Photoshop CS6's scale/size
There's a scaling options in Windows itself (in Control Panel > Hardware and Sounds > Display/monitor (I don't know what the setting is actually called).
Putting that higher might increase the size of the tools. Otherwise it's just about learning where what tools are. I don't know if there are any Photoshop UI plugins though, but maybe you can look into that.

I'm not that surprised really - anyone who's used or tried to make a heat rate monitor like the ones they use that are just pressed against the skin will know that they are very prone to being thrown off by any little movement.  You know those little ones they clamp on your finger in hospitals?  Have you ever noticed how crazy the graph goes if you just turn a little or sit up?

I can't wait for LTT's test of a few of these trackers - my guess is they will find the same thing

Danger Warning reacted to LAwLz in Microsoft Hits a New Low - Pressing Close Will Now Install Windows 10
Another day, another report about how Microsoft are trying to shove Windows 10 down users' throat regardless of if they want it or not.
People who use Windows 7 and 8 are probably familiar with this prompt by now:

It's the same kind of wording you would see on malware. It's designed to trick users into clicking upgrade. The only way to get rid of it (short of not installing any of the updates that adds it) was to press the red X in the top right corner. Here are the bad news though. Last week Microsoft decided to alter the upgrade prompt. It now looks like this:

The malicious thing about this prompt is that lots of users are reporting that pressing the X in the top right corner on this new prompt will schedule your computer to install Windows 10.

Microsoft has confirmed that this is the intended behavior:

What you need to do now if you want to stay on Windows 7 or 8 is to click on the text which says "click here to change upgrade schedule or cancel scheduled upgrade". After clicking on that you will see the option to stay on your current OS.

    Sources:
PC World - How Microsoft's tricky new Windows 10 pop-up deceives you into upgrading.
Independent - Microsoft Windows 10 upgrade condemned as 'deceitful' and 'nasty'
BBC - Microsoft accused of Windows 10 upgrade 'nasty trick'
BGR - Microsoft just turned Windows 10 into malware

I have long been saying that Windows 10 can be classified as malware and people have argued against this. However, I don't think any rational person will be able to defend this move. This is malicious and pure evil. They are trying to trick people into installing Windows 10. It is desperate, pathetic and evil. How about a simple "do you want to install Windows 10: Yes | No" box? I thought it was bad enough with asking "upgrade now | upgrade tonight" but you seriously can't interpret pressing close as a "they agreed to it".

I saw someone make a great analogy so I will just copy/paste it here:

    What do you think?

    Update:
Microsoft has said that they have listened to the feedback and will tweak the new notification to include "an additional opportunity for cancelling the update".
I have not seen any pictures of this "additional opportunity" yet, but judging by the wording it will be very similar to the current one which will install Windows 10 if you click the close button.
I don't think that change will help the core issue. It sounds like Microsoft are still trying to trick people into installing Windows 10. A simple yes/no/ask later question would be far better.

    SALES!!!! These are SALES!
Sales are down! Not market share!

Please read your sources before posting!

The title of the table that you are talking about is:
"Worldwide Smartphone Sales to End Users by Operating System in 1Q16 (Thousands of Units)"

Notice how they also explain on how Lenovo/Motorola isn't listed as they have no phones yet.

Windows powered phones are down, because Microsoft is not advertising AT ALL the phone. Not even in countries where they were marketshare, like India, or the U.K. And HP super fancy phone mentioned before is not even being sold yet. In fact pretty much all announced manufacture have their phone "in the works". The reason is its not that Microsoft is killing off Windows Phone. It is because it isn't ready. Microsoft themselves said that the release of the Lumia 950 / 950 XL that the phone was for its fans.

Microsoft is going full in the support of the OS. If you are running a Windows 10 Mobile, most likely you are an insider, you are getting new builds every week, almost. With mass number of bug fixes and many improvements as well. Imagine Android getting weekly updates, but done in such way that phone carriers and manufacture can't block the device updates or even firmware updates. This is Windows 10 Mobile right now. Any Windows 10 Mobile user will tell how the OS has changed in the past few months, and improved so much since day 1 of its release.

Basically, what Microsoft is doing now, is what they should have been doing on day 1. Now they are finally taking their mobile OS seriously. If you use the OS, if you give it a serious try, you'll see, at least for me, you'll feel like a solid, complete phone, a phone where you do productive things on the go, as the GUI is designed for that, much like Android. The look of a spruced up MP3 player, is gone. I personally gringe every time I use an app and it is a Windows Phone 8 app. Just frustrating to use. But Windows 10 Mobile, I feel like I was under Windows 10 / Android.

Anyway, all to say, that Microsoft is really not stopping Windows 10 Mobile, and without Windows 10 Mobile, you can't have Windows 10, as it would break the OS identity. The company said that they will focus on businesses/enterprise environment first, which makes sense as this is Microsoft strong point, and the phone integrates perfectly in a company environment / domain network.

No it's not, and no it won't. If your site makes illegal content publicly available, expect legal action. Doesn't matter if it's CP, terrorism propaganda, or illegal hate speech. The only reason Facebook is getting sued is that they failed to take down stuff that was reported.

Heck, even the DMCA is stricter than this.

Although the area was called Palestine, it was first a part of the Ottoman Empire and then a part of the British Empire in the time the concept of nation state and the right to nationality and living space exist. There was no country there before the United Nations decided to divide the territory in two states, a jewish and an arab. Israel has some bad actions, but in no way are the palestinians or the surrounding countries innocent and I believe both sides have something to atone for. In my opinion, education to reduce the religious dominance and improve the overall quality of living in the area is essential for any lasting peace.

    Here's my rant about it.

The smiley face is gender neutral. See?

Can you tell me the gender of a yellow circle with two eyes and a line for a mouth? No. If you assumed it's one or the other, that's on you.

So if anything, adding "female" emotes would perpetuate stereotypes about what a woman should look like, rather than help in the fight for a more welcoming and understanding humanity.

So it really is a move that would be a step backwards in the line of progress. Not a step forward. Let that be known.

He's right about the breaking up the big banks, auditing the Fed, and fixing our broken system.

Not right when it comes to democratic socialism when we as a nation already owe so much debt and rely heavily on creditor nations to continue on buying treasury bills. When you have no manufacturing to go to and the bills are dumped into the market, you get a currency currency you cannot recover from because of high trade deficits and inflation.

Whenever there has been a currency crisis, the next person in place takes hold with another strong currency that is backed by a solid asset like gold or petroleum. He who has the gold, makes the rules.

I'm aware Bernie wants to continue capitalism but extend socialist policies to medicare, social security, and education. You think the military industrial complex would allow that? It's a system a leader cannot fix, but only its people that live in it. Get rid of the banksters and crony capitalism.

As for foreign policy, we should stop with all regime change policies and end our relationship with terrorist nations like Israel and Saudi Arabia. Saudi Arabia is predicted to be bankrupt by 2022 anyway and Israel relies on foreign aid.

I'm not in front of my W10 machine, so this is from memory. Right click on the recycle bin, and I think there should be a 'Pin to Start Menu...' and 'Pin to Taskbar...' options. I pinned mine to my start menu so it's still easy to get to if I need. Then right click on the desktop, Personalize (where the screen saver and other options like that are) and then there is an option somewhere to change desktop icons. Uncheck all of them and they're gone.

Danger Warning reacted to LAwLz in RIP IE–Google Chrome beats Internet Explorer in market share everywhere in the world
It all started when Microsoft released a YouTube app that blocked ads on YouTube and allowed users to download videos. Google blocked the app, Microsoft updated the app so that ads would show and videos couldn't be downloaded, but the app got blocked again. Now Google are saying they want Microsoft to upgrade their browser before being allowed a YouTube app.
I don't really get either side. I don't understand why Google wants Microsoft to upgrade their browser before they can make a YouTube app, and I don't understand why Microsoft so stubbornly refuse to support web standards like VP8 and VP9 (Microsoft pushed for the non-free video codecs to become the standard instead. In the end both the free and non-free codecs got accepted as web standards).

    @Ryan_Vickers

That is a somewhat inconsiderate perspective.

You have to remember Windows is not Linux. People of all technical skill levels use it, from none, to IT professionals.

Some people do not follow technology news. They install Windows 10, and just start using it. They assume Microsoft have done their research and will make the default settings the most optimal for the most mainstream audience. (Hint: NOT the people who go through every single setting, because they will do that and check every setting regardless of whether Microsoft have set it for them or not).

They do not spend any time going through every nook and cranny in the settings menu configuring everything to their liking.

Microsoft have been developing their OS for quite awhile. They are not new to software design. It seems they have deliberately not followed basic design principles when it came to interfaces. As an example, the torrent style updating system (Update from more than one place) is hidden behind 4 clicks I believe?

Danger Warning reacted to Yog in Jugde blocks Whatsapp for 72 hours in Brazil
Let me start by saying I'm against any sort of broad request of information by a government. I don't think a government should be able to go to a private company and say "give me all of your data because there might be criminals using it"...a proper government would say "these three criminals committed these specific crimes, here's a warrant requiring their data and only their data." However, I want to critique the comparisons made because they're very wrong.

First, the construction company doesn't own or operate the road (at least here in the states it doesn't), a government does (well, most of the time)...the company is only there to lay down the asphalt (or concrete). Talking to the construction company would be pointless because they're not involved in any way. Whatsapp is entirely owned by a private company (facebook right?), it's in their complete control, they can do whatever they want with it. Second, roads don't inherently have a record of what's going on on top of them and that information isn't relayed to the owner, let alone the construction company. They might have certain sensors embedded in them but that wont tell you any pertinent information. Whatsapp does keep record of everything- that's the nature of digital communication, the record has to exist at some point - the only reason why there is no record to give is because they delete it before it's asked for.

Similar to the first one but you make a huge mistake of at least implying that Whatsapp is in trouble because someone else committed a crime...they're not in trouble for that but for not releasing information about a crime, big difference. Also, once again, good year doesn't record anything at all, they can't...whatsapp does but deletes it.

Personally, I do think this is a grey area and I can see valid points for both sides. To the police it basically looks like whatsapp is shredding documents (if they were analog) so the police can't see anything. For whatsapp they see it necessary to protect their users from hackers/overbearing governments. However, i'll revert to my original point of the broad requests of information...governments these days brought this sort of behavior on themselves by behaving poorly. If they could be trusted maybe this sort of communication wouldn't be desired/needed. Any government that abuses its powers has no room to complain when even innocent people hide as much as they can from them.

If you want the analogy to be even more accurate you also have to take into account that the data is encrypted end-to-end. So WhatsApp really has no way of knowing what was being sent even if they stored messages permanently. To get back to the Goodyears analogy, it would be like if the customers got to make up their own serial number for their tires. When they opened the box for the tires it was just a blank piece of paper that said "here, write your own serial number. You don't have to tell anyone about it either".
Even if Goodyears were to keep track of every single tire ever sold, their database would just be full of lines of blank serial numbers, because nobody would willingly go though the trouble of contacting Goodyear and report their serial number they themselves came up with and wrote down.

@Yog I strongly recommend you read a bit about how WhatApp's encryption work. If you don't understand the white papers then find some article that explains it in less technical terms for you. But let me tell you, there is absolutely nothing WhatsApp can do about it. They have 0 knowledge or control over what users are sending using their app. The only info they store temporarily is completely unreadable to them, the police and anyone else except the intended recipient.
