Why do people keep posting that stuff here like LMG can do anything about it?

Lurick reacted to Eigenvektor in why are there multiple timezones?
Time zones generally change east to west, not north to south. Meaning time above and below the equator is usually the same already, so long as you stay on the same longitude.

We already have a universal time standard called UTC. It is used in places where it makes sense (e.g. air travel and anything to do with computers). For everyday life, it would just make everything more complicated.

It doesn't matter where someone lives, if you tell them you get up at 5 am, they understand that's pretty early. If UTC was used they'd first have to check where you are to understand whether that's early or late or anywhere in between.

Nor would it make international meetings any easier. Just because you don't have to translate a meeting at 1 pm your time to some other time doesn't mean it might still be middle of the night for some other participant. If you convert 1 pm ET to e.g. 7 pm CET at least it's intuitive that people might not actually be working that late.

This has been proposed before and it would only make things more difficult for daily life. If you stop and think about it hopefully you can understand why.

Using your Australia example lets say you go there for vacation. Now you've got to memorize a whole new time schedule. With time zones all you need to do is adjust your clock and everything is the same.

    Adding to this:
MAC addresses are a layer 2 construct for getting packets on the same segment from point A to point B. Switches use MAC addresses to forward traffic (I won't talk about L3 switches which can do routing as well)
IP addresses are a layer 3 construct and get packets between different segments. Routers use IP addresses to forward traffic.

Because they're two different things. MAC addresses are physical addresses, used by network hardware to shuffle packets around. IP addresses are a logical construct for containing and directing traffic.

There are only 4,294,967,296 IPv4 addresses, including special-use addresses, loopback addresses, broadcast addresses, etc. Way back in the days of old, large chunks of IP addresses were sold off to large corporations or allocated to the military. This became a problem as the Internet gained popularity outside of universities and institutions; we were literally running out of IP addresses. NAT and private address space are a workaround to allow more than 4,294,967,296 devices to connect to the Internet.

To throw even more legacy cruft at you, some early networking standards don't use MAC addresses like Ethernet does, or don't care if multiple devices on the same network have identical MAC addresses (like Token Ring), but they can still carry TCP/IP.

    Summary
On April 15th, Discord put out an update which included a clause in the Terms of Service to get users to agree to waive their right to sue Discord for any legal reason.

    My thoughts
Unfortunately, this is legal in the United States (do not turn this into a political discussion) but users have 30 days from April 15th or the day you sign up for discord (though at this point, why would you?) Personally I've used it a lot since it's introduction, but perhaps its time to slowly move back to teamspeak or mumble.

If you want to send an email, there's already a good template for it.

So glad I’m not the only one with this sentiment. EK stuff costs a premium but they weren’t even sleeping the cables on their D5 pumps for the longest time. How on earth is a hunk of POM with a tiny bit of copper $300 now? Their blocks are out of control expensive.

And EVGA… don’t even get me started on their trash video cards. You know why their warranty was so good? Because you’re pretty much guaranteed to use it. 5/7 video cards I’ve owned were EVGA and of those 5, 4 of them had problems that I haven’t experienced on my Zotac or Asus cards.

So you highlight the good experience you had with Zotac and ASUS, and ignore all the complaints that people file.

Every company has RMAs, and some individuals might experience a spike in RMAs compared to others.

I've had one Zotac card failure(1/2 so 50% failure rate), and one ASUS card fail(1/2 again, so 50%). Based on those numbers, they must be unreliable! Except I don't think that's true. Sample size is too small, and I would argue that so is yours.

Lurick reacted to RejZoR in EK Waterblocks: Liquidity shortage and mismanagement
Your claim makes no sense. No one just charges premium and everyone's like "yup, all fine". You earn the right to charge premium and EK has always been the premium brand. Guess what, premium brands charge premium prices. People also forgot how copper prices increased through years and how machining specific blocks simply costs more.

As for EVGA, do you realize EVGA was actually making the "NVIDIA" branded graphic cards for NVIDIA back in the day and that it was known as brand with toughest PCB's and power delivery circuits? In similar way how Sapphire has been making "Built by ATi" back then. Also your warranty claim makes no sense. Last thing any company wants is for most of their products to be processed through warranty. It's just absolutely worst for business. Either you lower the warranty period and risk people avoiding your products or you raise the warranty to attract customers with longer warranty and ensure most of your sold products survive warranty period without any need for service. This is the best outcome. But if something goes wrong, users have the peace of mind warranty will cover their expensive graphic card and as far as I know EVGA has always correctly dealt with warranty claims and was actually know to be very "pro consumer" oriented.

Also to note… it won’t provide any additional speed either.

There is literally no advantage, only disadvantages due to complicated routing and potential packets not knowing where to go…. Which will literally just reduce performance.
