I think you need to clear the CMOS, revert your BIOS back to optimised defaults and don't touch anything in the BIOS that you don't know what it does.

levibaker88 reacted to Lotus in Capacitor dented slightly can it still operate?
Honestly I would think it's no good. IIRC, capictors are basically plates of metal held a constant but very small distance apart with a high resistant material in between them. They're cylinders because it's easier to just have the two plates wrap around each other in a spiral. A dent would likely alter the distance between the two plates, therefore drastically change it's function. My guess would be that it's gone bad.

levibaker88 reacted to mrgooglegeek in do you pay for an antivirus and firewal program ?
Guys, Please don't use AVG. As someone who works on other peoples computers all the time (especially the elderly) I see AVG quite a lot. Instead of acting as an antivirus software, It behaves as a piece of adware itself and does little to nothing as far as protecting computers. Malwarebytes is good and avast will get the job done, just please don't use AVG

You are not getting 960 to 1TB for $220. Those drives are upwards of 500

Please ensure that you are posting in the proper sub-forum at all times.
Moved to Graphics Cards.
The proper solution would be to wait until we have numbers from reviewers.

Always buy the best single graphics card you can afford and SLI it down the line if you want to. It'll save you money now and hassle later.

If you think .exe is the only way a virus or a piece of malware can affect your pc, you should really be careful surfing the internet.

levibaker88 reacted to othertomperson in GTX 1080 vs GTX 980 ti
Why did you decide that three weeks before a slew of new releases from both Nvidia and AMD was a good time to buy a new GPU?
-
levibaker88 reacted to Oshino Shinobu in GTX 1080 vs GTX 980 ti
Not really. Comparing things based on specs isn't reliable. If you compare an AMD FX 8350 and an Intel 6700K based purely on specs (core count, clock etc.) the FX 8350 comes out on top, which is not the case in the real world. Same goes for GPUs, going off specs alone isn't a good measure of performance, especially not cross-architecture.
The card comes out 27th May. Wait until then and we'll get proper benchmarks and real world performance, not what Nvidia is claiming (their claims contradict themselves in some cases).

levibaker88 reacted to Oshino Shinobu in GTX 1080 vs GTX 980 ti
We know no more than you do. It has been announced, that's it. We don't have any real performance benchmarks of it, only what Nvidia claims, which is almost always not quite the case.

levibaker88 got a reaction from Matias_Chambers in XMP
It's a factory setting so it won't matter when you do it, unless you are running unstable overclocks or pushing the FSB too high
-
levibaker88 got a reaction from Matias_Chambers in XMP
It should only bump up the memory frequency to the advertised OC speed

levibaker88 got a reaction from Edwardk326 in Os on hard drive but bios showing boot from ssd
Windows boot manager (boot loader, something along those lines) will generally get installed onto the drive in the first SATA slot which I'm assuming is your SSD and then Windows is installed onto the drive specified.
