First off your cou has 20 lanes. 16 for gpu and 4 for m.2 on motherboard. Then depending on your mobo there are additional pci-e lanes for the chipset that dont go straight to the cpu. So you would be fine

Oh thank you yes it is VERY expensive. I have them at work and liked the speed when I used them is all. But may not be worth it if TLC would work for me.

Sorry it's an early morning for me. I meant to say "Gaming in 4k is pretty pointless". I would just suggest spending your money elsewhere if having a 4k monitor is not your priority. 1440p 144Hz is the sweet spot for gaming.

    If you need the performance,yes.
    I run a 4k monitor and a 3840 X 1600 monitor. With a 2080S I could not use the settings I like.
My next monitor will be a 144hz 3840 X 1600. My FTW3 Ultra can't ever do 100fps average in AAA titles at that resolution so I need even more power.

The 2080 Ti is a card you really can't go with blowers indeed so you gotta pay up a bit more to secure at least a decent type like these two:
    https://uk.pcpartpicker.com/product/hwF48d/gigabyte-geforce-rtx-2080-ti-11gb-gaming-oc-video-card-gv-n208tgaming-oc-11gc
    https://uk.pcpartpicker.com/product/pKrmP6/evga-geforce-rtx-2080-ti-11-gb-black-video-card-11g-p4-2281-kr

These are the 2 cheapest yet decent models on UK right now, but the thing is when you're already spending 1k pounds on a video card, it's probably worth adding another 100 pounds on top for a top of the line model.

I'd say that you have 2 ways to go... considering you keep the G-Sync panel.

Go all in with the 2080 Ti if you want to ULTRA ALL DA THINGS! or cheap up heavy with the vanilla RTX 2080 which is very discounted like this one:
    https://uk.pcpartpicker.com/product/jmHRsY/msi-geforce-rtx-2080-8gb-ventus-video-card-geforce-rtx-2080-ventus-8g

we're talking about 500 pounds of difference pretty much for just 25% less performance on average, it's a very solid pick like @5x5 said at the beginning.

The only draw back is that you will have to fine tune your in-game settings to keep fps high but in reality that's not the the end of the world, refer to:

Thank you my current PCPP build is this: https://uk.pcpartpicker.com/list/29KmfH
I already have the PSU from a previous build though I have just added it in for ref

Thank you for the information about the SSDs it has given me something to think about for sure!
With regards to the CPU I understand what you mean I may do some research on how I would do all of this before I even buy as it would be a first for me doing it out the box if I need an older CPU etc sometimes you can do straight from USB

The Samsung 970 Evo is a MLC SSD, basically more durable memory than QLC, and much faster than an Intel 660p.
Edit : The Samsung 970 Evo is actually TLC, Samsung calls it 3bit MLC.

You can flash the bios on the cheaper non XT card in less than 5 minutes, and get 95% of the XT's performance. For some reason after market cards in the UK are pretty overpriced aside from this MSI one

You already have the G-sync display?

If you're going for looks, the 011 Dynamic is great, and it actually has good airflow, NZXT cases tend to run hotter because of no mesh.

Instead of just getting a 2TB SSD, you can buy a 500GB SSD, with a 2 or 4TB hard drive, and just use SSD caching software to speed up to hard drive to near SSD speeds. or just use the SSD for your OS and main games, just a lot more storage for the money.

I'm just all about that performance per dollar. You could also easily do a custom water cooling loop in the 011 Dynamic.

Basically this is just a lot cheaper, with 80-90% of the CPU performance, and 70-80% of the GPU performance.

I'd argue the 2080 non super is best value. Only 4% behind the Super and much cheaper

Thank you guys, something for me to research more into it seems! Very helpful though so will have a look in the morning and see what looks like a good fit for me!! Having 12 cores and 24 threads looks like a good bet though ?

I see what you mean, sound card isn't a big deal to me any decent motherboard has pretty good inbuilt sound i feel personally, PCIe SSD is a possibility, is 40 lanes a reasonably new thing or shall i say limited to few CPU's?
