stefs reacted to WereCatf in Is there any free FTP storage?
Ask yourself a few questions, like e.g. 1) Why would someone just give out free storage for you, when it costs them money? 2) Are you sure you want to trust your camera-footage to some random, free storage in the first place?

The thing is, there is no such a thing as free lunch. I'm not aware of anyone offering free FTP to begin with, but if someone did, there would be zero reason to trust that them not to mess around with your files there.

No idea, as I don't own one of their routers. The user manual I found online is extremely lacking, so your best option is to contact their support or see if you can find detailed instructions on their website, although based on the complete lack of information about any routers on their site, I don't know where you'd find that info.

File sharing is not normally done over DLNA, nor do I see any mention of this modem/router combo unit supporting DLNA in the review you linked. According to Russian reviews on the following Gearbest page, there is alternate firmware called PADAVAN you can flash to get extra features like DLNA working.

Filesharing is done by Samba, so did you activate the USB function in the app? Did you activate the Samba Server plugin via the app?

The i1 display pro will take faster readings, and has better software compatibility for software like Calman and other commercial software, but they are otherwise physically the same, and a Colormunki Display will be just as accurate as an i1 Display Pro. The Colormunki Display will still work fine with free software like ColorHCFR or DisplayCal.

I would recommend calibrating ANY display on which you intend to do color essential work.
It is important that any end product you export retains the look you originally envisioned for it once it's been published.
No point in spending hours working on the *perfect* set of contrasting tones and mood, only to find that it looks entirely different when viewed on another display.

So - install everything, not just selected programs.
Install 7zip and integrate it with Windows except for zip.
Install PotPlayer, GOM Player and Splash as alternative for VLC. More players = better. You'll choose which one works the best and sometimes it can be useful to have more than one video player. (Also - VLC is not the best, even if some people said that - they mostly do not use any alternative)
Install Opera and Firefox as alternative browsers - who knows, maybe your Chrome will be infected by some adware and you'll have alternative. Or somehow some website will not work. Or you'll have problem with Chrome and want to check is it browser problem or website problem.
VC++ has many versions - here you can find links: https://www.itechtics.com/microsoft-visual-c-redistributable-versions-direct-download-links/
Few programs more like Aimp, IrfanView, Audacity, GIMP, will be useful too.
LibreOffice as alternative for opening some documents that OpenOffice can't handle.
Maybe some good filemanager like DirectoryOpus? (it's paid, unfortunatelly)

Basically - install as many programs as you like, they do not slow down your computer (except when they're start with Windows, but you can disable that).
Fast computer usage is when you have many programs that can do everything you may need and open any file you'll get.
If you installing just few programs and limit yourself, your computer experience will be limited and buying good hardware will be waste of money.

    All C++.
    DirectX redist too.
Flash - as you want, but why not.
    Net Framework - when needed.

Install everything. It's common myth that too many programs can slow down your computer. No, unless they start with system. And even if some program slow down boot process a little, benefits will be worth it. Fast working on computer after boot is more important than boot itself. If any tool can help you improve your work - use it.

For example - DisplayFusion can slow down boot process but it's useful program (paid). UltraVNC can slow down boot (and for sure slows down shut down process), but if you want to control your computer over internet - it's worth wait few seconds more.

Also - if you have big music library - try MusicBee (but install Aimp as default player for faster start if you want to play single mp3).

At the end, when you'll have everything you need - install Macrium Reflect, made Rescue USB using this program, boot from USB and made image of your system. If something wrong happens, you'll have possibility to restore your system very quick.

If you mean drivers, Win10 installs all you need. Though if you are using gaming peripherals, I recommend downloading and installing their own software and driver packages.

Do not install crap like that. Leave your drivers alone if they work good. Do not focus on system, focus on nice software.

Grab the cheapest tower cooler you can find on the market. That will be overkilll for the CPU you are using, but it will be quiet.

If you are searching for a good quiet low profile cooler, you should check Artcic Freezer 11 LP - very cheap, absolutelly silent. I've got it on my i7-4770 and I'm satisified.

Temps aren't that high -- it's fine up to 80-90c at load. You can afford to lower fan speeds a bit.
Are you sure that the noise is from your cpu cooler and not elsewhere in the system like on the graphics card? Does stopping the cpu fan with your hand stop the noise?

stefs reacted to WoodenMarker in G4650 cooler
Stopping the fans with your hand is fine as long as they're not dangerously high rpm. The Intel stock cooler blades are rather thick and not dangerous. No, you won't get shocked.
