WillBlake got a reaction from johnukguy in Sound dampening PC?
Since you have so many fans running, you could just set them all to run at the lowest speed possible except at higher temps. This could keep noise low while maintaining good temp (obviously not as good as if the fans were running full speed but you get the point). Putting the PC in another room may help too. You could also install plastic washer in between the fans and the chasis to dampen noise further.

That looks pretty damn good! Thanks!

CPU Cooler - http://www.price.com.hk/product.php?p=232607 Cryorig C7 $290HKD
That comes to around $5500HKD, minus GPU. Zotac GTX 1070 Mini would be a good choice for GPU, but that's $3000HKD;
GPU - http://www.price.com.hk/product.php?p=246242 Zotac GTX 1070 Mini $3000HKD
so that would put you over budget. In which case, you might be better off with an RX 580 or GTX 1060. Either of which will be more than adequate for now, and even handle 1440p pretty well;
http://www.price.com.hk/product.php?p=255791 XFX GTS RX 580 8GB
http://www.price.com.hk/product.php?p=240991 EVGA SC Gaming GTX 1060 6GB
They're both right around $2000HKD so that would leave you with about $500 in the budget, which could be put towards a larger/better SSD;
http://www.price.com.hk/product.php?p=184599 250GB 850 EVO $710HKD
and/or an mITX motherboard with wi-fi;
http://www.price.com.hk/product.php?p=239034 AsRock Z170M-ITX/AC $1130HKD
If you want to go Ryzen instead of Intel;
http://www.price.com.hk/product.php?p=254429 R5 1600 $1700HKD
http://www.price.com.hk/product.php?p=260450 Biostar X370GTN $1150HKD
You'll want to get faster than 2400MHz RAM for Ryzen though. 3000/3200MHz is ideal, 2800MHz is fine if it's significantly cheaper/easier to find.

WillBlake reacted to wolfsbane3083 in SSD trouble
Well, unless he's typing up over 1TB per day for a few years I don't think he has to worry
-
WillBlake reacted to MimigaKing in SSD trouble
In simple words, Word is probably the least read/write intensive application he could ever run. SSD nowadays are validated and warranted to run the entire capacity of the drive more than a thousand times. Your brother's word document will write that? 5 MB an hour top?
No issued whatsoever

WillBlake reacted to papapoi in SSD trouble
tell him to turn off the auto save feature, do they still have that option? by the time he writes that much data to the drive for it to go bad he will probably have got a new pc .
if he was torrenting(taboo subject but using as an example for eucational puproses) or something like that then maybe he could work it to death but word? does he write novels like war and peace? doubt it. as long as it isnt some chinese off brand then he should be fine

WillBlake reacted to swordsman247 in SSDs Curiosity (at least for me)
If you leave something in one place long enough it will magnetize from the earths gravitational pull...which would in theory completely screw up a drive.

Shouldn't be any, although I am not an expert. I would have to find an article to back me up.

After years, yes, there could be data loss.

WillBlake reacted to Sakkura in SSDs Curiosity (at least for me)
That's when the SSD is at the end of its write endurance. When it's new or less used, it will hold the data for longer.

WillBlake reacted to soup in SSDs Curiosity (at least for me)
We could add caveats/exceptions/reasons etc for days but that wouldn't change the underlying idea.
The main takeaway is that it is not an aspect to be overly worried about.
Edited to add aside:-
Priest says to racing driver "my son how can you get in that thing knowing it may well kill you"?
Racing driver says to priest "tell me father do you expect to die in your bed?
Priest says "of course "
Racing driver says "then were do you get the courage to climb into it every night "
You shouldn't worry about everything

WillBlake got a reaction from TDP_Equinox in Anyone familiar with the Apple bullsh*t?
Wow that is nice:) Too bad we don't have independent repair centers here:( Anyway, yeah I do have an iPad Pro with me, I think its basically a better and bigger version of what I had, so I'll stick with this one till it doesn't like me anymore haha
-
WillBlake reacted to TDP_Equinox in Anyone familiar with the Apple bullsh*t?
Sounds like either a logic board or battery issue.
With ipods, repairing them is tricky.
The screens are glued down, and tricky to get back in properly without the proper tools.
I would suggest you either take it to a third party repair shop, or get the 6th generation (whichever is cheaper, good chance that buying a new one is cheaper).
The 6th gen is actually pretty badass.

WillBlake reacted to Oshino Shinobu in SSD Confusion
The 850 EVO is likely slightly faster with more write cycles. For gaming, pretty much any SSD will do (other than a V300), so I'd go for the cheaper one.
-
WillBlake reacted to yannickverc in SSD Confusion
Probably because the 850 EVO has more write/read speeds.
