Budget Build Compatibility

I'm doing a small form factor budget build, and am wondering if my plan currently is any good. plz review.

CPU: Ryzen 5 1500X

Air cooler: stock AMD Wraith Spire

Mobo: Biostar B350GTN Ver  5.x

RAM: Ballistix Sport LT 8Gb kit DDR4-2400

Storage: WD 3.5" 1Tb 7200 Black

Boot Drive: Samsung Evo 850 250Gb

Video Card: Zotac GTX1070 Mini

Power: EVGA 400W

Case: Cooler Master Elite 110

Please give a helping hand I think it will work fine but what do I know I've never built a mini-ITX pc before... thx

Edit: I dont think I'll be overclocking as the current cooling solution isn't that good yet, and I'll be using the system mainly for gaming. I live in Hong Kong so currency is HKD.

alright, but get a better PSU - something like a 450W Corsair CXM would be worlds better than the shitty EVGA units.

also, consider a 1600, and get better RAM (3000Mhz+). otherwise not a bad build

idk

looks good, maybe someone can join in on the ram compatibility as I don't know enough about that. Only thing I would like to mention is that though the mini 1070 version cools fine, the cooler runs a little loud.

Edit: save some money by getting a 1500 non-x or invest into a 1600 :)

Oh no, definitely not good. PSU is absolute trash. Don't bother with an R5 1500x. Either get a 1400, or a 1600. Also, that's not really a "Budget Build", it has a GTX 1070 in it.

What is your budget and currency for the system?

What will you be using the system for? If it's just gaming, I'd maybe suggest Intel for mITX.

Will you overclock?

Get a 1400 and then overclock it to 1500X speed.

400W on power supply seems a little tight. I'll leave some extra headroom, especially when using these low-capacity PSU.

X don't come with a cooler. Get a 1400 and then overclock it to 1500X speed.

The 1500x comes with the Wraith Spire, same cooler as the 1600. R5 1400 comes with the lowest end stock cooler.

thx for the replies! My budget is around $1000 (so around HKD$8000 where I live) and I'll be using it mainly for gaming. I wont be overclocking as I don't think there'll be enough cooling.

But the problem with intel chips tho is that they are more expensive with the same performance as the R5 tho

the stock cooler is good.

Why is 1500X not worth it tho?

it's fast per-core, but with 2 less cores compared to the 1600, which while may be clocked lower has that extra two-core advantage.

idk

What monitor(s) will you be using with the system? Or do you need a monitor included? If you need a monitor, what is the budget including monitor?

1500x isn't worth it because the 1400 is cheaper and will perform almost identically at the same clock speed. As for overclocking, you can easily build an mITX system with adequate cooling for some overclocking. Intel is easier for mITX because there are significantly more motherboard options. mITX for AM4 is brand new. Also, an i5 will perform similarly to an R5 1500x in most games, Intel is a little better in a lot of cases in gaming. It doesn't make a huge difference but since Intel would be a bit easier, it might be the way to go. What kind of games will you be playing though? Also, do you have a preferred place for buying components? It will be much easier if we give you a parts list for somewhere you can buy from.

I am gonna get a better monitor that is 1440p @ 60Hz (haven't chosen one though thats why its not listed or included in the budget). The current budget sits pretty close to USD$1000. Also, I have heavy multitasking in mind (I like to have multiple programs running alongside while I game) that's why I didn't consider an i5 (or i7 coz its just a little expensive for this budget). I will be playing (or replaying while waiting really) games such as Nier:emotionaltrauma and Skyrim SE hopefully at 1440p smoothly. I really don't have a preferred place to shop for parts as long as its within HK and the parts there are cheaper than elsewhere's.

That comes to around $5500HKD, minus GPU. Zotac GTX 1070 Mini would be a good choice for GPU, but that's $3000HKD;

GPU - http://www.price.com.hk/product.php?p=246242 Zotac GTX 1070 Mini $3000HKD

so that would put you over budget. In which case, you might be better off with an RX 580 or GTX 1060. Either of which will be more than adequate for now, and even handle 1440p pretty well;

They're both right around $2000HKD so that would leave you with about $500 in the budget, which could be put towards a larger/better SSD;

http://www.price.com.hk/product.php?p=184599 250GB 850 EVO $710HKD

and/or an mITX motherboard with wi-fi;

If you want to go Ryzen instead of Intel;

http://www.price.com.hk/product.php?p=260450 Biostar X370GTN $1150HKD

You'll want to get faster than 2400MHz RAM for Ryzen though. 3000/3200MHz is ideal, 2800MHz is fine if it's significantly cheaper/easier to find.
