Change CPU core voltage mode to manual.

Manually set 1.4V (as a recommended maximum, 1.45 absolute maximum) as the CPU core voltage.

Animation quality usually refers to the smoothness of the animation. Art quality usually refers to the actual art in the show. Overall quality comes from a lot of factors that can be mixed and matched in different ways. For me, if I enjoy a show enough, I can overlook its more minor shortcomings.

DragonTamer1 got a reaction from Danboy360 in Ryzen Stock Cooler or Custom Air Cooler?!
Ryzen is more energy efficient than the Intel counterparts which means less heat output. Combine that with the fact that the wraith cooler is actually a pretty good design and you should get respectable temps even on the high end CPUs.

That being said, if you are planning on extensive overclocking then I would definitely get an aftermarket cooler. It's hard to say how well the Wraith will hold up to an overclock especially since heat output isn't necessarily linear to frequency increase.

I would feel more than comfortable using the stock cooler on the CPU until I could either afford another one or until it came in the mail. It would be a PR nightmare if AMD shipped a CPU that couldn't be cooled with its stock cooler, especially since they are trying very hard to turn around all of the negative stereotypes bout them right now.

Power issues aside, you won't have enough contact between the can and the Peltier for effective thermal transfer. You would be better off building an enclosure to house the can. Since cold air sinks it wouldn' t necesarily need a top but it would help.

I feel that while its priced against the 7700k its really competeing with the 6800k. I say that because much like the 7700k vs 6800k youre much better off with the 7700k for purely gaming, but you will have issues if you attempt to stream or edit videos with it.

They are going to be very competitive at the high end, but the way the CPUs are layed out, the low end chips, the budget oriented ones if you will, are most likely going to be more expensive than the intel counterparts. The boards are expected to be cheaper so you would have ended up with roughly the same performance per dollar.

The prices are not the best that I've ever seen for these parts but it is still very good. For just $600 you have a very capable machine.

No, waiting for Ryzen with your setup would not have been time well spent. Ryzen will almost certainly cost more than what you paid or at the very least will cost the same for similar performance.

The only thing I would have done differently is gotten a 4GB 470 instead of an 8GB. Even my 480 struggles if it's using more than 6GB of VRAM.

I can push the core further in gaming but not in stress tests at each voltage setting. I could probably get the numbers a little higher with the settings that I have but it honestly wouldn't be worth the time.

The GPU is fine, but a case where the motherboard sits horizontally on the bottom and the GPU is mounted vertically allows the GPU to pull in fresh air from outside and makes this issue nonexistent.

DragonTamer1 got a reaction from thxone in Wy won't it overclock?????
If I remember correctly AMD uses a base clock of 200MHz and a multiplier of 20 or something like that.

You want to lower the frequency that your RAM runs at because if you are pushing up the base clock then everything in the system is going to increase with it. Increasing the base clock is difficult and I personally have had very little luck with bclock modifications beyond an additional 5MHz on my Xeon server.

Increasing the multiplier would be easier and can be done without modifying the rest of your system speeds.

Your CPU speed is the Base clock speed x the Multiplier. A good motherboard with a good BIOS should tell you what you have your speed set to.

Also worth noting that I've never used an AMD system for anything other than the Phenom 9100e in the HTPC. But I did help a friend with his 8350 that was pushed to an unstable overclock because it's previous owner was an idiot, and I also stayed at a Holiday Inn Express last night.

Here are 5 possible cases that are in the same approximate price range (or cheaper).

    Thermaltake Suppressor F1
    Fractal Design Node 304
BitFenix Prodigy (comes in several different colors)
    Silverstone SG08B-LITE
    Fractal Design Core 500

Some of these cases would need a smaller cooler since if I remember correctly the SR Slim is quite tall, however something like a Cryorig C7 would do a perfectly acceptable job of cooling a locked i7.

I would still encourage you to take a look for yourself but these are some starting points.

DragonTamer1 got a reaction from Atmos in Trying to understand conservative reasoning, (A well mannered thread.)
I'm not liberal but I do tend to favor their ideas because from a logical standpoint, they typically make more sense. That's not to say I disagree with all of policies of the conservatives (there are some that I do agree with) but some of the policies that are supported by the conservatives are not well executed (thinking specifically of tax policies in the upper brackets).

The far left and the far right are cancer. These are the kinds of people that I can't stand because they are blind to any logical argument. Typically, the far right will say that your evidence doesn't matter because it can't be applied to this situation and that you just don't know what you are talking about. The far left will say that your evidence is biased and irrelevant.

    Examples.
Right- Gun control doesn't work because the criminals don't give up their guns. You can't apply the statistics from the other countries (countries with more gun control have lower gun crimes) to the US because the US is so big/ has so many people/ has cultural differences etc.

Left- Women get paid less than men so therefore we need to reform the system so that everyone is on equal footing (even though they get paid the same and men tend to earn more because they work more hours in more dangerous jobs). You're just against it because *insert comment about patriarchy/conformism here.*

The main problem that I see with our government is that everyone is always at each others throats. Nobody is willing to make any compromises and is unwilling to just sit down and listen to the other sides argument and actually think about it in full. This is a problem with both parties. The people in the government are more loyal to their own parties for the apparent purpose of kissing the party leaders ass to move up the ladder ind funding and support during the elections. News organizations such as FOX and MSNBC are very good at giving out opinionated articles and making it sound like fact. This is why I don't listen to either of them for the news and visit an unbiased source of information (Al-jezera is typically my go to for news).

The problem is that getting rid of political parties or making them illegal will not work either because people are always going to gather around people with similar ideals and will end up feeding off each other. The majority of the population is also not capable of recognizing bias in news articles, especially when it is well hidden and for the most part simply don't care. It's easier to be led than to be a leader and that is where most people are content to stay for their entire lives. I myself had to take several college classes to learn to recognize bias and that was still hard, even though I'm a naturally good writer and critical thinker.

DragonTamer1 got a reaction from acturisme in 780ti blown resistor.
He's talking about the bare pad directly above it I think, it looks like there is a part missing there.

I don't thing that r33 is .33 ohm resistor but I have never worked with SMT parts before so don't quote me. Resistors also usually burn open, not closed. If you were trying to measure the resistance while it was still on the board the rest of the circuit can throw off your reading.

If you are looking for a replacement use Mouser or Digikey and look for SMT resistors. They do come in different physical sizes and resistances so you will have to make sure that you have the right one. There is also the possibility that the rest of the board is already dead depending on what the resistors function was.

Edit: just looked at the picture again, that's not a resistor.

A well optimized game can allow two 480s to be more powerful than the 1070. Most games are not well optimized though and if a single 480 isn't suiting your needs (assuming you already have one) then it would be better to go with the 1070.
