So you can pre-heat the oven before you're even in the kitchen! And also, so you can check how ruined your attempt at cooking anything will actually be.
They basically come up with the stupidest ideas possible to connect everything to the internet, even if there's no logical reason to, just so they can add stuff to their marketing BS.

I personally blame Microsoft for making the shortcuts so easily available, they should be charged with aiding piracy and made to refund everyone's money.
