As mentioned several times, the Shure SRH-1540 is excellent. The Oppo PM3 is another great closed headphone - high build and sound quality, excellent isolation, folds for portability. The aforementioned MrSpeakers and Fostex headphones are probably a step above these two, but more expensive.

To those who've been following me around in other topics and posts (thanks for your patience ), my brother who owes me a pair of HE-500's finally bought me one while he was in China. He'll be back this Monday (Beijing/Hong Kong time) and oh my gawd...

Thank you for the suggestions, guys But I'm getting my cocaine back! A motherfucking year overdue.

Well, atleast there's a solution. I wonder what the audio quality is with that mod.
If you're referring to the MrSpeakers one, yeah. IMO, its like what the HD 800 should've been even with the 2013 revision.

Have you actually heard the HE-500? The Fidelio X2 is comparable to the HD600 and 650, but all three of them don't really compare to what the HE500 gives.

The Fidelio X2's are lemonade nice at best. Still miles far away from cocaine nice.
Anyways @captain_Slow I've tried the W1000x. It was really good, slightly off in terms of what I was looking for in sound quality and sound signature compared to the HE-500, but I am really impressed with it.
@ShadowCaptain I've auditioned the T1's again, this time for atleast an hour. Its actually really nice and can somewhat go toe-to-toe with the HD800... the problem was that I noticed the treble peak at 8khz which makes it fatiguing. Despite its comfort, I felt like wanting to take a break from using it from time to time. While positional audio accuracy and soundstage is arguably/subjectively better than the K701 or the Q701 (I hate these headphones, but gaming with them is pretty much a dream. Kinda spoiled me in terms of soundwhoring), that troublesome treble, though...

Are you two on crack, or high on valium? For goodness sakes, I feel like I want to send both of you a dick pic.
And yeah, impedance doesn't mean jack shit compared to sensitivity. The DT770 is 96db/mw sensitive even with 250 ohm impedance, which is decently sensitive and can be ran off of on-board audio (unless your onboard audio is just terrible, then I'd recommend either the Schiit Fulla or the SMSL SD793-II [provided you have an optical out for the SMSL]) rather alright. I use my HD600's off of an iPhone 4 non-S and its pretty good anyways. Not saying a DAC and amp isn't necessary, but its nice to have if you're experiencing clipping, EMI, and some other disturbances from the source that can be remedied with a DAC and amp.

You should try the AKG Q701, I doubt you'll still be swearing by the M50X.

Welp, so far, the feasible ones I can audition are the T1's and the W1000x.

Well, its gonna be the fourth time I'm gonna audition the T1's and a first for the W1000x.

I'm still open for suggestions @.@

ITS NOT LIKE YOU'RE INFRONT OF A MIRROR WHEN USING THEM OR ON A HYPER-REFLECTIVE MONITOR. PLUS HAVE YOU SEEN THE ABYSS HEADPHONES? THOSE THINGS LOOK LIKE COAT HANGERS RATHER THAN HEADPHONES. IN DIFFERENT ANGLES, IT LOOKS LIKE CRINKLES ON MY ASS. DON'T ASK HOW I KNOW HOW MY ASS CRINKLES LOOK LIKE.

Shooting from the hip here, but I guess the HD650 would fit what you're looking for.

You won't gain or lose anything whether its open or closed back. I mean, the HD600 is an open back headphone, and I own a pair... but the soundstage is small that I could mistake it as a closed-back headphone if it wasn't for the background noise. The Shure SRH1540 is a closed back headphone, but it has a really substantial soundstage... much larger than the HD600.

Someone just messaged me to just fly to the US or Hong Kong just to buy a pair of HE-500's or HE-500 alternatives.

Well, I'm not gonna mention that user's name, but oh well. Just saying, if I have to take a trip to a country just to buy it, it would be a waste of time and money if that was just the sole purpose. Maybe if I'm gonna go on a vacation and have that as one of my objectives, then okay. But as of now, I don't have the time and the most of a vacation I can really have is playing video games, hanging around in the forums, and/or some audio-enthusiast meetups to hang out and discuss music and gear.
