You’re running Windows Server 2016 - why not throw all the drives (other than the OS boot) into Storage Spaces, and set your redundancy / lack-thereof at the virtual drive level? If you do go this route, then I recommend against using Simple (raid-0 equivalent) volumes as you do have a higher risk of losing the virtual disk than if you just used a single drive directly, just like Raid 0. And if you want to use Parity volumes, then I recommend setting a 5 or 10GB write-back cache, which will take up some space on the SSD.

Just get a used server off ebay... Trust me..

Like a Dell R410, R710 or R510.  All are great cheap and awesome powerful hardware for under 400 dollars easy.

I watched a video where someone pretty much got a desktop computer, and a HBA Raid Controller, and basicly slapped it together into a raid ) on the raid card.

I wanted to basicly pass through the disks to the R410 and use windows Server Storage Spaces to put it into a software raid (I would perfer hardware raid but its just for homelab stuff so learning is more of the goal.  )

A large amount of googling was done at 2AM when I found this deal.  Its 270 bucks after shipping for it.  24 450gb drives and fulling redundant IO in the back.

Looks like Ill just use storage spaces.  I'm a college student that just got done with a (luckily) paid internship so I'm kinda sitting on funds that could be (and most likely) will be put towards more homelab stuff.  I really want to move to a 42U Rack and not my 27U because its getting kinda full... My next project when this is done is moving to diskless servers and iSCI booting my other R410, R710 and R610 off my SAN maybe with either 10GB links or just some FC 4gb Nics that I can find in the trash outside of my office...

Anyways, thank you and @Lurick for all the help.  I'm sure I'll be back with updates and issues soon enough.

Very neat!  I'm defiantly going to look into that. I'm almost tempted to see how freenas works with the netapp device so I can use ZFS and implement Raid 6.  I havent really used storage spaces very much.  Most of my expeirence is with Windows Server 2012 and R2.
    Edit: Or Xpenology

I would say the researchers were feeling DYNAMITE about their work when coming up with a name.  Probably felt that there was a lot of explosive potential and were wanting to blow open a new world of medical technology.

Yes you'lll still need a modem.

"Bridge Mode" is a common feature on lots of ISP-provided modem/router all-in-ones. (Google it)

This makes it just act as a modem, and you use one cat cable to connect it to your pfsense router.

1050 Ti would be a 10% improvement over the 660Ti which I wouldn't call much of a bump.

Look into used GTX 980, GTX 1060 3GB, or a GTX 1060 6GB if you can get some more funds.

Update the firmware on the device and create a raid array with the Raid controller   Then you should just beable to install an OS easily.  I have an r710 with windows 2012r2 on it.

If you can avoid using any onsite servers at all then do that. Office 365 and Azure AD will take care of almost everything you need. Businesses that don't have a focus on IT tends to let servers go well beyond their recommended service life and get in all sorts of problems, design something where that is impossible.
