Mathsnerds reacted to Nena Trinity in Samsung J5 Pro OR Oppo A73
If RMA is easy in your country go for Oppo low risk then but if not the Samsung could be the safer pick considering its a bigger brand with more money, also not made in China. JK lol

I picked up battlefront one out of interest and it definitely seems sort of one sided at times. Especially when it shows what weapon the enemy killed you with and it shows their cool cosmetics

Was that part of EA games to begin with?
Just about every EA multiplayer game I've played in the past 5 years were heavily one sided.

Because DVI doesn't carry audio signals. Get a regular HDMI to HDMI Cable pass audio to your TV

Maybe look into custom Kerbal Space Program controllers, sounds similar to what you are going for. https://forum.kerbalspaceprogram.com/index.php?/topic/60620-custom-hardware-simpit-repository-for-people-who-take-ksp-a-little-too-far/#post920499

Mathsnerds reacted to Jrasero in Dell announced New XPS 13 after me purchasing one, very happy.
Going from a 2017 MBP to a XPS 9560 made me release dongle life on Macs wasn't a huge deal since I rarely used USB, however everyone's usage and need will very
For maybe the 1-2 devices that I needed USB for I just plugged these adapters on them so whenever I needed to use they could just plug and play

At least they didn't take away the SD card reader

Mathsnerds reacted to LinusTech in Smart outlets and switches
Working on something with my mom and we're looking into some IFTTT automation for an off-the-grid cabin.
Does anyone have much experience with this stuff? I think most of what we're trying to do is fairly straightforward - like having the fridge outlet turn off if the temperature inside the cabin drops below a certain threshold - but I have VERY little experience with this stuff.
Any good open source tools I could look into? We're going to be using a Ubiquiti dish to get Internet over there, so connectivity shouldn't be an issue...
Any pointers in the right direction?

I've been using a USB C only ultrabook for ages, have absolutely no problem with it. I carry 2 small slim dongles, one for USBs with a lan port and one for different video outputs. You get used to it

Mathsnerds got a reaction from ProjectBox153 in Best SLI GPU's?
Short answer there is no best SLI GPUs
coming from my experience with SLI only 2 games that I have out of 100 use it, with decent performance improvements but unreliable performance.
Honestly if you have the budget to get two graphics cards of a low tier, you should get a single high tier card instead every day of the week.

Completely waste of money, pretty sure you can't SLI 1060s or below.
Buy a 1080ti or better yet wait to see the next gen.

Mathsnerds reacted to catzambia in Best SLI GPU's?
Yeah SLI in 2017 soon to be 2018 is retarded. Not many games support it and those that do are buggy as hell. Single gpu setup is much better.

Mathsnerds reacted to Davehaslanded in Real world performance difference between a FX8350 and i7 4790 in Adobe Lightroom
I am currently using an AMD FX 8350 OC to 4.3ghz. I am a freelance photographer and often have to import, edit and export 150-300 24MP RAw photos on a weekly basis. I've considered upgrading my editing rig to an I7 4790, but have held back for a number of reasons:
1) There are very few real world benchmarks for Photo editing. I'm worried about gaming or video rendering.
2) Lightroom actually uses all 8 cores of the FX8350 and maxes them out.
3) The PCmark benchmark does have a photo editing benchmark and only show a 30% difference in performance, but this benchmark was created before recent upgrades to lightroom such as GPU acceleration and the benchmark appears to open photoshop for the benchmark which operates differently from Lightroom.
4) I saw a massive jump in performance just from upgrading from 8GB to 16GB of Ram
5)My FX8350 editing rig beats my i5 gaming rig when compared (Same GPU, Same RAM at time of test, both SSD) I understand the I5 is only a quad core, but it shows that Lightroom likes more cores as opposed to more powerful.
6) TekSyndicate's Pistol was using an AMD FX 9000 series CPU as here main editing rig for nearly a year. I don't feel this would have happened if the performance gap had really been that big.
It would be great if anyone here has actually made this upgrade from an AMD FX 8 core (8000 or 9000 series) to an Intel i7 (4000 series) who can speak from real world experience.
A)Did you really see a performance benefit?
B)Was it worth the financial cost of upgrade? (in my case; new CPU, Motherboard, and waterblock)
I use an I5 4670 on my gaming pc and have tried editing on that (Same GPU on both; GTX 980)
Many thanks guys. Look forward to any feedback.

BF2 doesn't support SLI so it performs like a single 760.

There aren't really any others i can think of. I guess you could watch the WAN show but that's an hour long podcast that is effeminately not as close as being frequent. honestly Linus should just take some of his B team and make them do some sort of tech news show.

This is very sad to see such a great tech show going away, hopefully we might see a resurgence some day.
Lets have a discussion about this.
What where the best moments on Netlinked?

I really loved how they found a gap in the so called "market" of YouTube and ran it pretty well.
I hope if Netlinked doesn't return, Linus might hire some new staff and setup a project for tech news. Although, he might see it as unnecessary, I just don't like filtering through articles.

This is really unfortunate. I hope Riley goes on to do his own daily/weekly show of sorts. That would be great, since Netlinked sometimes reported on topics I had not heard of until they mentioned it.
