Best SLI GPU's?

Hey everyone, I'm considering moving to an SLI setup (not Crossfire at all) for 4K but I'm not sure what GPU would be good for SLI.

I'm currently running a 1060 3gb.

Thx everyone.

Completely waste of money, pretty sure you can't SLI 1060s or below.

Buy a 1080ti or better yet wait to see the next gen.

I edit my posts a lot, Twitter is @LordStreetguru just don't ask PC questions there mostly...

Spoiler

What is your budget/country for your new PC?

what monitor resolution/refresh rate?

What games or other software do you need to run?

Short answer there is no best SLI GPUs

coming from my experience with SLI only 2 games that I have out of 100 use it, with decent performance improvements but unreliable performance.

Honestly if you have the budget to get two graphics cards of a low tier, you should get a single high tier card instead every day of the week.

Same as everyone else here, I have only encountered sli or crossfire a very few times and I have rarely heard of it working properly.  I did manage to make it work with world of tanks on dual r9 380's but had to do windowed full screen instead of full screen and certain settings had to be changed or it was artifact city.  Multi GPU is only for wanting iPeen or mining.  If I win the lotto it'll be as many gpu's I can fit into a box crunching for folding at home, however anything other than that will always be single gpu.

I had a pair of 770s in SLI until a year ago (switched to a 1070, roughly the same performance at less than a third of the power draw).  Worked perfectly fine on GTA5, but on everything else I tried it either only used the top GPU or there was micro-stuttering.

Go for a single high-end GPU.

The only reason I run multiple GPUs is for the monitor outputs. I wouldn't use SLI or anything. You're far better off getting a better single GPU than multiple worse GPUs.

Main System: Phobos

AMD Ryzen 7 2700 (8C/16T), ASRock B450 Steel Legend, 16GB G.SKILL Aegis DDR4 3000MHz, AMD Radeon RX 570 4GB (XFX), 960GB Crucial M500, 2TB Seagate BarraCuda, Windows 10 Pro for Workstations/macOS Catalina

Secondary System: York

Intel Core i7-2600 (4C/8T), ASUS P8Z68-V/GEN3, 16GB GEIL Enhance Corsa DDR3 1600MHz, Zotac GeForce GTX 550 Ti 1GB, 240GB ADATA Ultimate SU650, Windows 10 Pro for Workstations

Older File Server: Yet to be named

Intel Pentium 4 HT (1C/2T), Intel D865GBF, 3GB DDR 400MHz, ATI Radeon HD 4650 1GB (HIS), 80GB WD Caviar, 320GB Hitachi Deskstar, Windows XP Pro SP3, Windows Server 2003 R2

Long time sli user here

8600gts,gtx8800s,gts250s,gtx260s,gtx460s,gtx560tis,gtx670s,gtx970s,gtx1080tis

Sli has always been great for me

Microstutter was small issue back before 260s for me

Sli Game Support has always been the same most triple a games have it

Every month they are more always stated in patch notes

Yeah scaling isn't going to be perfect but has always worked great for me but i  have been a surround user since the beginning too

Psu, motherboard, and case(airflow/heat)requirements are a downside along with if you play alot of random unsupported indie games

Oh and expense too lol

Dual 1070's is about the cheapest you'd want to do--and the cheapest Pascal combination supported for SLI. You're looking around $800 for those. For less than that, you could get a 1080 Ti that performs almost exactly as well but has lower power draw, will throw out less heat, and won't have any SLI headaches associated with it.

Skip the SLI and get a 1080 Ti. Cheaper, better.

Aerocool DS are the best fans you've never tried.

Listed majority of my sli setups

Majority of the games you play have sli support? Or even need sli for 4k to get 60fps

The "best" GPUs to SLI would be the 1080Ti, since there isn't any video card out there notably faster than a single 1080Ti. If you don't have $1500 to spend on GPUs, SLI 1070Ti and SLI 1080 will be faster than a single 1080Ti in SLI supported games. But unless you must SLI this late into Pascal's lifespan, it would simply be better to wait for Volta and SLI a pair of 80 class Volta cards.
