Intel in my experience just have better products. People can disagree all they want, don't really care. I've been down the AMD road for a while, and as far as I can tell, AMD has no longevity with their products. Look at their GPU and community forums, bunch of complaints on failing GPU's, and driver issues. Lets compare, we can liken AMD to American cars, and Nvidia to Japanese cars. And everyone who owns a Toyota knows how long those cars can last you even with high mileage. American cars? Not so much.

That being said, Intel does work better with most programs, apps, etc... Since they been in the game longer, but their product is just overpriced. If you're looking for a more affordable lineup, then AMD is that route. But with affordable, you have to consider it might not be long lasting. I've owned an intel for well over 10+ years now it's still running. Can't say that about AMD. Last AMD product I owned, last roughly... 2 years and some months before I need to replace it.

Need a little more detail on what you're trying to accomplish here. Cheap, affordable, quality? If you're mostly just playing sims, RTS, and RPG's... A 1440p @75hz would actually be great. And I'll choose that over 1080p @144hz.

$300 for 1070 ti msi with another year of warranty, sounds like a good deal to me. You can run 1440p @75hz with the 1070 ti pretty damn good.

Rx 5700, rtx 2060's, 1080 ti, all of these cards are meant for 1440P gaming at 144hz. If you aren't going to game using them to what they were specifically made for, why not just settle for the more affordable 1070 ti that can run 1440p @75hz just fine? And to answer your question, yes, 1070 ti can run 1440p @75hz for years to come just fine.

c00face got a reaction from KEIN NEIN in Need some information about ROPs in GPU Memory
I am not sure what ROPs are and how they associate themselves with the memory modules. I am tinkering with my R9 290 and the best solution is to replace the memory modules on the GPU. The problem was finding a more cheaper solution than spending $28 dollar on eBay for a used R9 290.

The purpose of this project for me is to just to understand what I can repair and what I can't. It's a nice little learning project for me and I am having fun doing it. That being said, part of the goal is to find very cheap solution to repairing my GPU. After some research, I came to the conclusion that the DDR5 memory modules are the same on your PC memory stick as they are on the GPU. The question is, what stops me from actually just using the memory stick DDR5 memory module to replace the GPU DDR5 modules?

That's when a person on another forum told me about ROPs. He said to his knowledge, ROPs are tied to each memory module and probably has some specific coding to each module. So what exactly are ROPs and how do they function and does ROPs not exist in a regular PC memory DDR5 module? (I would of asked that person on that forum, but apparently it shutdown as of today.)

Not wrong to give no helping hand to a person who needs it. It isn't required by law. Doesn't mean it's correct morally or ethical, that's a total different subject. If you want to label things wrong and right by law, you're going to find yourself in a big bad of hurt.

It isn't wrong for insurances company to deny you compensation for an injury until you take them to court and prove them liable. Here's a question for you, is it hard for someone to give out a 2 cent information on "pads" size? You're telling me that's liable for a customer to sue Gigabyte? Lol...

Don't mistake it, it's douche-bag status on what some of these manufacture's are doing. I know this first hand.

c00face got a reaction from sirlamchops25 in GPU Issue
    Step 1
Unplug all other GPU you have plugged in except a working one.
Run your Windows normally and download Driver easy.
Update each driver, specifically the Intel Watchdog driver and Interface Management.
Restart your computer and press F2 or Del to go into your BIOS.
     - In your BIOS, turn on PCIe as priority.
Uninstall all GPU drivers through Control Panel. Install DDU and reboot into safe mode to uninstall the rest of the drivers left behind.

    Step 2
You need to inspect the card physically for any damages to capacitors, transistors, burnt marks, anything of obvious. To do this, you'll have to remove the stock cooler from the GPU and then reapply thermal paste. Clean the PCB with Isopropyl Alcohol and tooth brush. Wipe off any corrosion you see (if there's any.) Put back on the cooler, secure everything tightly, make sure everything fits in its place (you don't want to tighten a screw that will chip the PCB, it can cause a shortage.)

    Step 3
Turn PC off, unplug cord, install the GPU. Turn it on and let it load. Make sure to use DVI to DVI instead of the HDMI. HDMI tend to black out display until you have the necessary drivers which will make it appear as if the GPU is dead.
Contact Zotac tech support and ask for firmware upgrades. Make sure to write down the GPU- PN, SN, and SKU. They will and should send you the upgraded vBIOS for the card so you'll be able to flash it. More than not, this should actually get the card to start running again.

Post any thing you observed here and we can take it from there. (Don't oven your GPU, just don't.)

Things that is tricky and should be noted
Not having a display on the card means you can't run the necessary flash vBIOS from Zotac and start diagnostic on the card or install the necessary drivers for it. If this is the case, you'll have to use both your integrated onboard while the GPU is intact with power. To do this, you'll have to go into BIOS, switch graphics to onboard rather than PCIe as the primary during load-up. You'll have visual through the onboard and you'll be able to apply drivers to the Zotac GPU because it is still attached and powered. The Ryzen 5 1600 doesn't have on-board graphics, so you'll going to have to find another work around.

I have the same GPU, although from Saphire and drivers are a big issue. They go up and down in a rollercoaster. I don't even remember the last fully stable driver I had. Since 19.4.1 for me it's been ok-ish, although some games like AC Odyssey crash with them. 19.4.0 crashed the entire PC, due to messed up power configuration.

It's the first AMD card I bought in a long time, and honestly with this quality of support, I think I'll go up with the extra cash and go team green next time.

    System specs and running OS?

Is the card overclocked or did it come overclocked by default?

Newest GPU drivers up to date, all intel drivers up to date, and chipset driver up to date?

Open your windows search and type in "reliability" an option should appear that reads, View Reliability History, what is the error, and the screen shot the error details.

Go to the card manufacture website and see if they have some sort of BIOS firmware update for your card. If not, open a tech support ticket and ask for one and also detail the problem your having with the card.

c00face got a reaction from onlybuilt4cubanxlinx in Solving the Wattman issue with AMD and GPU crashing
--Sorry, long post, but if you want a possible fix to your AMD Wattman crashing issue, this thread is probably for you--

After installing Windows 10, AMD older graphics series has been a pain in the ass. Wattman restored and crashing, screen flickering, display showing rainbow colors, and BSOD. I, like everyone else, label it a graphics card failure. But something wasn't adding up and I never threw my card away just in case. Fast foward a year and a half later, I reinstalled my card and it worked fine until just today, it all started happening again.

I said to myself, "Probably is a dying graphics card." I decided to open up the card to inspect the hardware to see if there was any issue at all with the card itself such as burnt marks, cracked capacitors, etc... Nothing. I started cleaning areas where it looked like it could interfere with circuit or solders with the flow of electricity. Replaced the thermal coating for the GPU chip and added the Sapphire cooler back on.

Then I noticed a small little switch on the side of the R9 290 card that I haven't noticed before.
Apparently there was a Quiet mode and an Uber mode on the 200 series. I did a quick search and realize Quiet mode is the normal mode while Uber increases power. And by default, it is set on Uber mode. I switched it to Quiet mode, plugged back in my R9 290... and just like that, the Wattman issue stopped, the flickering stopped, the BSOD stopped, and the rainbow display colors stopped. What in the flying f__k AMD? Are you telling me my previous motherboard crashed due to this setting that seems to be causing issue?

Anyways, seems like the problem has subsided and is this the actual culprit? Also, I did some research and realize Sapphire Tri-R9 290 comes overclocked. This could possibly be why I was having so much issue before. Setting the card to "Normal mode" might of literally fixed the issue with AMD Wattman crashing and system failure. And to all who is reading, YES, it DID crash my motherboard, this Wattman issue. I suggest you don't ignore it like I did before until your motherboard goes dying and your left wondering wtf happened.

--I'll come back in couple days after playing some serious Apex Legends to update if the problem is finally fixed. And my display and computer isn't restarting every 5 minutes.--

Also, to point out, it seems all of the AMD cards comes with this side switch of Quiet mode and Uber mode. By default, it is set to Uber mode to my understanding. And this could be the issue with the Wattman crashing. Setting it to Normal mode "Quiet" fixed it for me at the moment. I'll update later during the week to see if this was the actual issue.

There's a lot of reasons for this. It isn't so much because "they're good," although they are. In any team game what you need is synergy. The thing lacking in most LoL eSports team is synergy. Some players are either very aggressive, while others are very passive. These kind of play style never mix well. During critical team fights or critical macro plays, some players are just not on the same page and or when they try to force themselves to play that kind of play style they end up feeding due to their own nature.

The mix up between Blabber/Jensen and Svens/Glue is that the synergy is there. Glue can play passive, hint why he choose very positional champions like Syndra and Malzahar. While Jen/Blabber are more aggressive, hint why they can play champions like Leblanc/Kindred. The idea between the swap is simple and very effective on a fundamental level. When a team learns how to counter an aggressive play style (TSM), C9 would have to swap Jen/Blabber out with Svens/Glue and the team play a more passive playstyle while having stronger macro (where TSM lacks macro game.) This strategy allowed C9 to defeat TSM during semi-finals.

There's no magic into all of this. It's just core principles, regardless of what you hear the analyst say and what others theorize, in real life, you work better when you have someone you can bond with. That being said, "What is up with Smoothie?" Smoothie is one of those players that can adapt fairly easily. He can switch between aggressive play style into a more passive play style. The problem with Smoothie is that, the team needed something "new." The something new would mean a release of old players regardless of how good they are. This "newness" you can equate it to having fresh new clothes. You just feel on the top of the world with confidence when you step into a house party with beautiful girls because you "feel" and "believe" you look good. That goes a long ways, but these kind of scenarios does not last, just like new clothes will become old fairly quickly.

With this in mind, there will come a time when C9 will flutter again and changes will have to be made again.

And you're complaining about one guy who says, "Hey, I don't eat meat." This delusional of, "Vegans are shouting too loud," you must be kidding yourself. Believe it or not there are meat eaters who boost about eating meat. I'll be rich for every time I've heard, "This steak is so good, I need that meat, wtf is wrong with you plant eaters meat is good yo, mmm... meat has a lot of protein, you need meat to survive, you're dumb if you don't eat meat because it has protein, meat is good for your brain." Cherry picking a very very slim margin of vegans who does go out shouting, "I'm better than you," it's not better than cherry picking meat eaters who go around fighting people because they refuse to eat meat.

And this idea that it's done respectfully, when was the last time a vegan disrespectfully told you he'll sock your face if you eat meat? Half of the vegans I know respect each other. If you're hanging out with them and you're eating meat, you should be ready to hear some criticism from them because you're hanging out with them. The same when I eat out with meat eaters and I tell them I only want to eat vegetables and they criticize me for not eating meat. And just because the supermarket advertisement doesn't mean it isn't an ideology. Selling you anything that opposes your own belief IS an ideology, regardless if you're trying to make money off it or not. If a business choose to sell abortion in my clinic and they're promoting it through ads, guess what? It's their ideology. You can't just sit there say, "It's not an ideology because they're selling a product," no. Anything you promote is what you associate it regardless if you're trying to make money off it or not. If you're just selling things just to make money, well guess what? You're ideology is a greedy bastard who only cares for his own welfare and money.

Is like you people are offended at everything and anyone who opposes your habits, your daily living, and anything out of your comfort zone. Angry at vegans, angry at those knocking on your doors because you're watching hentai, angry at your mom because she interrupted you while playing video games, angry at Christians because they're spreading their love, angry at those telling you gaming has become an addiction, angry at what the f' ever opposes your comfort zone.
