Epic's Support is a mess it seems - so don't blame you for not knowing what to do.

Go to the "Contact Us" button at the bottom of the page linked previously.

Go to the "I'm unable to log in to my account" on that page

Then go to "I don't have access tot he email on my account. I want to change it"

From here, this is where things might not work since you don't know the new e-mail the account was changed to.

Your best bet is to provide your previous e-mail address and previous display name in those fields. Then you'll have to supply a second e-mail address to use for verification (so if you have two e-mails, use the non Epic one that you had used previously). If you don't have another e-mail, I'd suggest creating one through outlook or google.

There will be more steps to collect information on your account in the further steps in that process.

I'm not doing anything wrong when I use the restroom.  Nor do I have anything to hide.  I still like my privacy so therefore I still close the bathroom door.

I lock my house when I leave as well.  Even if I knew someone was only going to go through my things and rummage through my files and whatnot and not actually STEAL anything. I would still lock my door.  Why? Because again, I like my privacy.  Liking my privacy does not equate to me "doing anything wrong".

This is the one I bought.  I noticed Microcenter's website was showing several open-box ones at my local store. They have the individual pricing there as well. I went in store and the employee happily offered to open them and let me inspect.  The very first one had all original packaging, wires never unwrapped, protective stickers all exactly in place. It looked like a buyer's remorse kind of return, and it saved me $200 and I still got full return policy and warranty.

mmaatt747 reacted to ImorallySourcedElectrons in Would a PC in a vacuum chamber overheat?
No, this would be purely radiative cooling, you can get a surprising amount of heat out with the right design. Even the thermally questionable honeycomb carbon composite - aluminium sandwich panels we used for structural support were surprisingly capable in terms of transferring and radiating heat.

    The tactic was usually three-fold:
First we placed all components that generate a lot of heat near the edges of the PCBs and then went for as thick copper as possible on the inner and outer layers, and a lot of via's to ensure good thermal coupling from the chips to the PCBs. We then electrically and thermally linked the PCB ground planes to the chassis using a clamped connection like a card lock system ( https://www.digikey.com/en/product-highlight/c/calmarkbirtcher/card-lokwedge-lok-retainers😞

Usually this was achieved by creating a via stitching pattern between all the layers and a wide strip of unplated copper to ensure good thermal connectivity and to avoid the creation of gold-aluminium intermetallics which can hamper thermal conduction, this especially became important as alodine was banned - due to somewhat obvious reasons. Bigger chips, like DRAM and FPGAs were a bigger issue. You can't really place those near the edge, so they'd usually go in the centre of the PCB, meaning you cannot rely on the groundplane to do all the work. So we'd have custom heatsinks made out of solid aluminium going from the device package (and even the bottom of the PCB) to the chassis. That way we were able to keep the junction temperatures to something reasonable (<95 °C at a maximum of 70°C "ambient") while dissipating up to about 20 W. So the entire tactic boils down to ensuring everything is thermally coupled to the chassis, and letting the chassis do the radiating outwards. There are a few more caveats to doing these things, like we'd often have get the devices packaged ourselves, or do a lot of arguing to violate assembly qualifications in favour of competitive thermal solutions. But that's a can of worms I'd rather not get into.

Basically, the main thing is to get all the thermal energy to the chassis, and to turn that into a big enough radiating body that's colder than the environment on average. Something like a workstation case should be plenty big to get rid of most of the heat of a desktop CPU if it's running at low power and you keep it out of the sunlight. Higher power satellites then usually used dedicated radiators with ammonia-based cooling loops. So when folks say this ain't possible, I beg to differ, there are things zipping above your head that prove otherwise. 😄

But if you are going to be doing this sort of craziness anyway, why not turn the entire inside of the case into a vapour chamber?

mmaatt747 reacted to Lurking in Computer cooling off period
That is a trustworthy and scientific source....good reason to still follow the same advice in 2022 🙂

Pentium PCs, even overclocked, had so much less power consumption than modern gaming PCs. It was even less an issue than now. And once you stop your application (i.e. running Prime or whatever one did with a Pentium) the load immediately stopped while the fans were running. it took at least 5 seconds with fan still running to shut down, and then windows actually shutting down some more seconds with fans running and not much heat produced. So the chips at that point already were at a lower temperature than when running under load.

You can monitor CPU temp and run a load (i.e. Prime). Once you turn off the load, you see CPU temp falling off a cliff within 1 second.

And a PC doesn't have a latent load. The CPU/GPU have a specific balanced temperature when running at high load, and every item in the cooling chain (spreader paste, sink etc.) are colder. That is how heat transfers from hot to cold. Even if you unplug the PC without shutting down (you stop the fan in middle of hot workload) the chips will just cool down, not heat up more. This isn't a nuclear reactor where there still is some reaction happening years after.

This isn't an old turbo charger where the turbine actually still runs and then slows down for a few seconds (by producing friction heat) after the motor stops. And even that was only an issue if one ran the engine at high rpm and then suddenly turned it off (unlikely real world scenario). and it was only an issue with oil-cooled turbos. Modern turbos are water-cooled (more thermal mass). So even that isn't an issue and none of the modern turbo cars need a specific procedure. But I bet, some car sales person still tells people to wait 5 minutes idling before tuning off the engine.

I would like to submit the chartering of a new group of earthly wonders:
The Seven Wonders of the Digital World!
This is an idea that I've had in my mind and think it would be really cool to at least ponder and consider. I think that the Internet, and by extension, all computers, have given us the opportunity to create things with near infinite possiblities. Despite all the negative and cruel things that can happen in the virtual world, the Seven Wonders of the Digital World give us the opportunity to appreciate the good and edifying influences it can have on society, through sharing our personal experiences and goodwill with others. As such, rather than just hammer out a list with only my subjective input, I want everyone here to submit their own nominations to what they believe should be considered a wonder of the digital world worth cherishing.

I'll start with a submission of my own:

    C
To most people it might be just a letter but to those that have dipped their toes into the realm of computers it doesn't just represent part of a language, it is language. The C language and it's extension in  C ++ is the bedrock over which much of the internet and popular programs exist today. Before web development tools and alternative languages existed, C language virtually created the known web (with help from a few other languages) in both senses of the word. Most games today run on engines designed on its C ++ extension and without it, the gaming landscape would almost certainly look radically differnt to today. There may be a time when C language becomes obsolete but regardless of when it goes quietly into the twilight, for better or worse, the impact it has had on all things electronic has left and will continue to leave a strong legacy behind it.

With that, I want to hear what you consider to be a wonder of the digital world and why. If your just here to contribute or just lurk around, I wish you all a terrific day and many digital blessings!
    Cheers!

Sure, some components have skyrocketed, others such as ram, ssd and hard drives have tanked. It's sort of balanced out. My gaming PC's now are roughly the same as the ones I built in the early 2000s. I've always had a $3000 Canadian limit. I've always been able to build a pretty rocking machine for that.

All of those channels know close to nothing about audio and often do poor research when it comes to audio subjects.
Burn in is a rather old audio myth with no facts to back it up. I am not aware of a single FR that backs up the burn in myth. I think it started because people got more used to how their headphones sounded and started to like it more and more, so they thought that the headphones got better after a burn in period, that was at least what happened with me and the LSTN headphones.
