Hopefully they don't ask Intel for naming advice when they get to that point.

Hey, it finally came! Ordered in October, I think? Shipped around my birthday last month. Feels premium. Love how tight the tolerances are & how the bits don't seem to be shit & want to strip screws like the bits on my other ratcheting screwdriver do. Was it worth the $$? Time will tell. But it's a well-built tool. Something I am always a fan of & want in my arsenal.

Well, sort of. I'm employed by the gov't, I rarely do any actual "work"
Or to quote a line from a famous movie, "We plan ahead, that way we don't have to do anything right now."

The 2060 showed up today. 100% unopened with factory stickers in place. I quickly broke those bad boys to investigate further. Yep. Seems legit. I'll stick in a system sometime later this week to confirm it works etc, but it's weird that the seller let it go so cheap when it was new old stock.

Got me one of them Leenus Touch Tips screwdrivers + the Philips bit set. I still plan on buying the Torx set when that comes back in stock, but there's another thing I might need help trying to find.

I need tips on a bit set to get for the LTT screwdriver that has something for standoffs or video card/mobo IO screws... I can't think of what the hell to Google to find something.

Bought some cheap cables to use with some of my cans, they're more for ease of use/convenience more than anything else as the stock cables are thick, still and unwieldy. They're from top, L to R:
ENIGMAxoustics Dharma D1000, Sennheiser HD600, MD Sennheiser HD6XX
    Grado GS1000i, AKG K812 Pro
Also got a pair of new earpads for my Grado GS1000i.....

I just managed to score an EVGA 3060 XC Gaming 12GB non-LHR for $330 AUD ($227 USD), which seems like a steal as I can see the same card for over $700 AUD new from various retailers & on US eBay the cheapest buy it now was $320 USD.

Edit: I also managed to score a brand new unopened EVGA RTX 2060 XC Ultra for $300 AUD ($206 USD) which from what I can see is what used ones are going for on eBay..

If I can get my GTX 1070 to work again, it would mean I have 4 EVGA GPU's at my disposal.

Had both the cases I bought turn up.. My NAS went into one (i5 6600k, 16GB DDR4, GTX 1070 & 7.5TB of storage) & my current PC went into the other..

Downside is my 1070 seems to have died, so i'm running the iGPU, and the 7600k I had has also died thanks to the previous owner delidding it & not reattaching the IHS to the CPU, thus getting liquid metal in places you don't need it..

Just picked up 2 V6.1 Ncase M1's one in Black & one in Silver. Gonna replace my V5's. Scored them for a pretty good bargain $300 AUD all up, and both come with every single accessory which is nice, as neither owner used any of the other bits that come with them. Now just to wait til they turn up. I will probably sell my V5's to recoup some of what I just spent.

My missus gave me a $100 gift card to Sunglass Hut for Christmas as I was saying I was thinking of buying a new pair of sunnies. So originally $300 AUD, on sale for $220, found a discount code for $50 & with the gift card I was out of pocket all of $77 because shipping wasn't free for some stupid reason.

Why yes, I would like to clarify that statement.

I'm currently watching yesterday's WANShow bit on google laying off a bunch of employees and Linus is expressing his frustration about how google still makes billions upon billions of dollars yet still needs to pinch this penny and reduce that cost.

Under the current economic mindset, the goal is not long term viability. The goal is as much money this quarter through whatever means necessary. Who cares about next quarter? Shareholders want a return on their investment, and they demand a greater return each time. This puts executives in the mindset of "as much money now" while ignoring the mid to long term future of the business. After all, who cares about viability in 2030? The current executive team will have cashed out long before then. Fuck the future. It's not "my" problem, after all. It incentivises companies to make short-sighted short-term cash grabs for the sake of a 0.05% bump in share prices that week. Shareholders' thirst for returns cannot be quenched. If returns do not consistently go up, then the business is a failure. It's not about profit; it's about more profit each time.

Wendover did a great video talking about this very thing in relation to American freight rail and how companies are focusing more on short-term gains while deferring expensive maintenance and upgrades to vital infrastructure; because being the CEO who reigned during a time of record profits (even while the ability of the business to make money deteriorates) is the legacy that executives want. No executive wants to be the one to tell their shareholders that profits are down because they had to spend money to catch up on long-neglected infrastructure. (Link to Wendover's video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qQTjLWIHN74

Linus, your problem is that you care about long-term viability. It's enough that you make a decent profit, can pay your employees, cover your costs, and have a decent life for yourself. Under the current economic mindset, that is failure. If you can make a dollar today even if it costs you a hundred dollars tomorrow, then you take that dollar every single time. That is why, in the eyes of google and their ilk, you are a failure.

Just out of curiosity, in yesterday's stream Linus showed off the following:

Are you guys going to make the top lid magnetic as well? That's my main grievance with most bit holders of this style, they design the lid to act as parts tray screws but then you accidentally knock into it (or drop it if you're Linus) and the small screws fly off everywhere.
