After this post I went to check y VRM'S temperature and I guess they are just fine, they in 45º C while gaming so yeah, I think its fine no?
    Thanks for you help!

    Hello everyone,

I just had a friend pointing out that my AIO pump was upside down as the VRM fan should be UP to do its job.

Honestly I never noticed bad temps on the CPU and since the cooler doesn't fit on the upper part of the case it had to go on like this.

This has been like this for years now.

    I am fine I guess?

alvez got a reaction from RevGAM in CPU + GPU TEMPS and possible additional fans
    Hello everyone.

I have the following temperatures on iddle and under load. These are normal temperatures right?

The CPU cooler is a Arctic Liquid Freezer II 280mm. I dont have the best case tbh.

I was thinking of adding 2 additional fans (on the image bellow) pushing air through the GPU to give it more fresh air. Would this be a good idea?

    Thanks alot!

Good temps. Changing case airflow probably wouldn't make a noticeable difference in cooling.

Yeh maybe something related to it, doen't bother much tbh. It does not have any impact at all on anything, and happens rarelly. I am just curious.

    sounds like a motherboard issue

if it has no negative effect or does any harm, this should be fine

i mean.. define "short". you'll trigger an overcurrent event on the POE injector and it'll turn off power delivery.. but ethernet cables dont really have the gauge to carry a propper 'short circuit' load.

The connector on the ethernet cable is plastic.
It's designed to "bite" into the plastic insulation so when you pulled the cable, it was actually the insulation and the plastic of the plug not the wires inside that were "stressed"
The ethernet jack has a metal housing, and it's behind an IO shield , or behind a metal bracket if it's separate ethernet card.  Plastic bends or breaks before the metal, so the chance of you breaking the ethernet jack on the computer is minimal, not impossible but very unlikely

Worst case scenario, the ethernet plug on the cable could be bad, but that can be easily solved by cutting the plug and crimping a new one, if you have a crimping tool.

you cant short an ethernet port, by design the pins are not directly electrically connected to the rest of the system.

worst you can do is physically damage the port, and when you do it's obvious because the cable will fall out.

It's fine, as it still works. You can't create a short on the board from a minor pull, for a short to occur the accompanying damage to board, case and cable is rather catastrophic and thus very much noticeable 😛

Compare the 'wiggle' of the ethernet cable in your PC slot to the cable into modem/router.  They "should" be designed/engineered such that the cable termination takes damage before the slot does...but if the slot is super sloppy you might have a pin->solder joint that broke loose between the socket and board.  [inspecting that I/O port and it's connection to the board would be another, probably more informative exploration.]

alvez got a reaction from Mark Kaine in 5800X3D opinions needed on temps
    Hello everyone,

    Basically I have just upgraded to a R7 5800X3D.

    Cooler: Arctic Liquid Freezer 280mm
    Board: MSI B450 Tomahawk Max

Been having some temperature spikes when I put the system underload, for example (see link to image below where I start the game let it run for some seconds) starting a game like CSGO where it will spike from 34°C to 65°C/70°C momentarily and then proceed to average 50°/60° while playing that game for a long period.

After some opinions the majority of people said this is normal behaviour and even a good thing due to the CPU clocking/boosting as it should proving that it's working as intended to start a task.

A low percentage of people have stated they didn't have this behaviour by any means and think it's poor cooling.

If I leave it alone and don't touch it, it averages really low temps as you can see on the second link.

So, can I rest my head and stop thinking this isn't normal and leave it be? Or should I worry and do something?

    Please help..

    https://www.kitguru.net/components/cpu/luke-hill/amd-ryzen-5-7600x-cpu-review/3/#:~:text=Now%2C the Infinity Fabric clock,or 3000MHz for DDR5-6000.

With previous Zen, memory clocks above 3600MHz would result in a divider being applied to the Infinity Fabric clock, thus reducing its effective speed and imparting a significant latency penalty. Now, the Infinity Fabric clock is no longer linked with the memory controller clock.
This means that the Infinity Fabric is generally maintained at 2000MHz while the memory controller runs at 2400MHz for DDR5-4800 or 2600MHz for DDR5-5200 or 3000MHz for DDR5-6000.
Above 6000MHz RAM speed and the memory controller will run at a 2:1 divider. So, 6000MHz is a sweet spot, while DDR5-6200 and 6400 kits realistically sit in the valley of death whereby the slower memory controller will impart a latency penalty. But Infinity Fabric is decoupled so it will stay at 2000MHz frequency, thus the latency penalty is kept to the memory subsystem specifically, and not the processor and platform side of the equation.
TL;DR – AMD reckons that DDR5-6000MHz with nice timings and EXPO configuration is a smart sweet spot. We’ll test this out some more over the coming weeks and months.

curb the urge to consoom and wait for RDNA2 based GPU to crash even lower on used market, same with Zen 3. Diamond hands. But yeah as reference a 4:3 stretch is pretty much all CPU biased, you need to care more on CPU as your priority.

I would go 5800x3d even though the 3d v cach hasnt shown improvments in csgo but you still get the generational ipc uplift and the extra 2 cores 4 threads so you will see improvment in csgo compared to 3600x.

Then worry about gpu down the road

Possible just to upgrade to 5800x 3D if the b450 supports it and spent the rest on the GPU.

Heck i would be tempted to put it all on GPU and see how you do with th 3600x.

Unless you use the pc for work?

your cpu and mobo are good for now as their still good contenders. woudln't upgrade ram or psu either. Best bet is the gpu then. But if you have more to spend, you could spring for a new mobo (b550), a 5800x3d and a new gpu.
All of this is in the link below (only if you have the money ofc) https://pt.pcpartpicker.com/list/QbJwH2
if you don't want to spend so much tho then just get a new gpu https://pt.pcpartpicker.com/list/8NrXH2

    No compatibility problems.
There was some noise when it was announced because the card only has 8 PCIe lanes, but it works fine in PCIe 3.0, 4.0 isn't really necessary for this card.

Unless you're laser-focused on competitive e-sports, anything beyond 144Hz is a bit of a waste of money -- too expensive for small gains.
If you are focused on e-sports, then your call. Still, if the monitor works ok, I'd just truck along with it and save money for a better, bigger upgrade further down the line.
