You're on an ASUS board, which means you'll be using Realtek's audio drivers. By default, when headphones or anything are plugged in to your front-panel connector, it will mute the rear I/O ports. However, for an external audio device plugged in, it might not function properly. Navigate to your Realtek Audio Manager's settings page, and enable independent audio devices across all inputs. On my board, this is what the option looks like:

This should fix your issue, in theory.

This is a very late reply, but I did want to inform you.

Decreasing the resolution of the video file from 1920x1080 to 1280x720 will not reduce the filesize of videos unless the bitrate is also reduced. What you can do, however, is reduce the resolution and the bitrate, and that will bring down your filesize. Because @peter325 is using ShadowPlay, he has to reduce his resolution and bitrate independent of each other. By default, ShadowPlay will record at your native resolution, and with a 50mbps bitrate. This will result in its standard 10:00 duration creating a 3.8GB file. With an upload of 1.42mb/sec, your upload times are going to be somewhere around 5 hours, if my math is correct. While I'm not sure if this accurately reflects the times of the uploads that the OP was seeing, it does mathematically represent the time estimation.

Your second build looks great, and I can't really comment anything negative on it. You'll receive suggestions for swapping the GTX 960 for something like an AMD R9 380, and it's certainly something to consider at this price point, as the two (even in AUD) are priced the same. Otherwise, it's a great power supply, great SSD, great RAM, great motherboard, great processor, and okay HDD! You'll be able ot drive Grand Theft Auto V at 1080p perfectly with a build like that. (By perfectly I mean you'll get 60fps~ on ultra.)

Ideally, you'll want a DAC + amp combo, but the impedance of the ATH-M40Xs is low enough that you don't need anything particularly high-end to drive them well enough. I'm actually using the dedicated amp on my motherboard right now until I can afford a decent Schiit Stack. Since you're using a laptop, the most I woulds recommend you buy is a FiiO E10k USB DAC + Amplifier. They're not cheap, but it is a very good, small and portable solution. For what it's worth, though, the onboard sound on your laptop is okay for now. Don't expect a night-and-day difference, but do expect more clarity, and a bit more "distance" between details in sounds. Plus they'll be louder, typically.

Depends on the degree of the headphones. If you pair a laptop with a pair of Sennheiser HD800s, the laptop will hold them back so much, that there would be no point, and upgrading the audio source would be mandatory. However, because your headphones are low-power, and they're not premium, high-end cans, they offer more of an improvement than your input setup. So yes, in this case the headphones outweigh the other end of the audio setup. However, a DAC + Amplifier will still go a long way.

Fuck ASUS. Their Customer Support is terrible, my first board from them was DOA, and two of my friends had their X99 boards arrive DOA as well. If I could afford it, I would jump onto a Gigabyte or EVGA board the first chance I get.

Also, Windows 10 is fine, and is much better than Windows 8. Don't knock off a point for this, because you're stick in the past.

I'm not sure. They're the same price ($69.95) on the Wacom online store. You might want to consider looking other places than Amazon, but the tablet itself is your entry-level drawing tablet, and I wouldn't go any cheaper than $70.

Not a whole lot to say here, folks! Straight from Wikimedia themselves, Wikipedia has begun work on a search engine in an attempt to rival Google. Apologies if there's not a lot of information here, but all of the documents can be found below!

While they're not directly attempting to "take down" Google, this is an interesting project no less, and I'm curious what's to come of if, considering Wikipedia's scale and contributions to the internet since its inception.
