Darko_Nerivar got a reaction from TechFnatic in Anyone here use Coursera?
IMHO, online courses are good to get into the language.
But _learning_ language is what you do yourself. Using docs.

Notepad++
Using a text editor for learning a new language is very helpful and and IDE is usually not even needed unless you are working with large frameworks.
Sublime Text is also a good one.

Darko_Nerivar reacted to LukeTim in Best Software to Code Linux on?
So you're saying you want to fork the Linux Kernel and build some OS functionality on top?
And the problem you decided to ask advice about is which text editor to use?!

Darko_Nerivar reacted to Nuluvius in A weird phenomenon that I can't explain
This is image processing. How are you achieving it? are you using anything like OpenCV for example? I suggest that you really need to work on recreating the bug first in a controlled environment. You'll then obviously be able to debug and ascertain the cause. What are the specification differences in the edge cases? Introduce logging perhaps?
Things to consider:
Internationalization Code pages OS font settings Really we need more information. If you are unwilling to provide it then that would tend to make one suspicious of illicit activity. You mention 'hundreds of people' using the software...

Darko_Nerivar reacted to Ciccioo in Result of sizeof() not as expected
might be worth to give a look at this stackoverflow question: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/3919194/what-is-vc-doing-when-packing-bitfields
it seems that the bits are correctly aligned, but the compiler still reserves enough space for the lowest multiple of sizeof(uint_32t) that will fit your structure declaration
#pragma pack has the right to behave differently on every machine and compiler that you use it on, so it shouldn't be too much of a surprise if you get different results on different compilers

Ideal - you tell to the craftsmen what you need and they make a model, then you confirm and they make it for you. Also:

We can't answer this!! Each person thinks different, you seem to understand this yet you ask. I hate coca cola and other likes it.
Go with green. Now I made things complicated.
You'll have to try yourself, trial and error.
I started with Reds and then blues, I'm starting to dislike red but don't like the loudness of Blues, might get Browns or blacks on my next keyboard. Or clears.
Might as well get all 3.
