That'd be pretty awesome of they could get companies to sponsor something like that. I'd probably spend the money to go to a LMG/LTT fair But for now, we can only dream x.x

Thanks a lot for the suggestions! I have a job interview tomorrow so if it looks like I impressed them, then that shall be my justification to spending the extra amounts of money on the Seasonic Titanium PSU... otherwise I'll take the EVGA.

Well I can't help with the drive not waking up problem, sorry

But the best value for a PSU with 2 EPS12V cables is the EVGA Supernova B2 750W. It's semi modular so if you want modular and don't mind going all out, the Seasonic Prime Titanium 650W is basically the best PSU ever.

Anything from EVGA's G2, G3, GS and T2 are quality PSUs.
Along with anything made by Seasonic, especially the Titanium.

Personally, I'd recommend returning the SFP cable you got, and grabbing a couple run of the mill SFP+ cable off of eBay along with a Quanta LB4M switch.

In this setup, you would plug your file server and main PC into the switch via the SFP+ cable ONLY (ditch the ethernet cable), and plug the rest of the devices into the switch. Your two SFP+ machines will have a 10G link to the network, and all the others will have a one-gigabit link. This is the simplest way to do this, and will cost you about the same that you spent on that cable. I have done this myself with the same mellanox NICs and that switch. Feel free to ask any questions.

You also don't have to worry about prioritizing the 10G link with this, as the 10G computers would ONLY have that connection.

I've had issues in the past with active SFP+ cables, and have ultimately always had better luck with passive cables and a switch.

I would have expected an Active Twinax to have worked but it sounds like you need a passive cable. If the NICs are showing up in Windows then the drivers should be working, getting the full drivers with the configuration utility is still recommended but I don't think it will fix the issue.

Some really cheap 10G switches require Active Twinax as they don't put any of the electronics in the ports to lower the cost, doesn't apply to you but interesting to know anyway.

I actually bought the cable for $40. I tried the drivers on their website and not much luck there unfortunately
I think I will try your suggestion. I have been looking into that switch for awhile but I didn't want to take chances on that configuration because I wasn't sure if the NICs and switch would play nicely with each other. I'll likely start with getting a passive cable (its all I can afford right now >.<) and seeing if it gets the NICs to light up.

Oh. Your parameter assumes a string. You can remove the cast from radius:

I live in New Jersey, but I could fly over (free vacation flight). My only issue is transportation and lodging once I'm in Canada. Anyone want to form a group for hotel rooms ?!

I'll consider the change in change in GPU and SSD. I have heard good things about the Sandisk Drive so I'll give it a shot.

The graphics card is iffy, not because of the performance, but because of its size. The main reason I looked into the 970 that I did is because it is ASUS's ITX sized 970, which is not much longer (I'm not sure if it is any longer) than an ITX motherboard. The case takes in a full sized ATX PSU towards the front of the case, so hopefully the PSU with the modular cables and the card can fit together.

The dummy card I can test out if I get the case is a GTX 770 which is comparable in size to the one you suggested, so if I do buy the case to play around, that should give me a good idea if it will fit.

For my current rig, I am running a custom loop with a 240mm (2x120) and a 360mm(3x120) radiator.

I have seen people running the H80i in the case so I'm pretty sure it will fit.

I did buy my monitor for the G-Sync upgrade, but it might worth a note that you do lose some of your investment by buying the kit since you lose the speakers/additional outputs (which were nice to plug in things like a Blu-Ray player or Chromecast). The G-Sync "upgrade kit" doesn't just upgrade the panel, you are changing the entire PCB. Not to mention its quite hard not to scratch your panel.

Otherwise, I'm seriously torn between better color quality and the 144Hz refresh rate. I love the experience of the better panel when playing my graphically demanding games, but for online play, I'm so into the fluidity of the VG248QE.

    The struggle >.<

Gomenasai reacted to LinusTech in *CLOSED* G-SYNC Module Giveaway
I've seen so much debate on the forum about G-SYNC with many of you saying "Linus is fangirling, this technology is pointless" and many of you saying "G-SYNC is the greatest thing ever".

The one thing (as far as I can tell) that you all seem to agree on is that you really want to try it to see it with your own eyes.

Now's the time. FIVE forum contributors will be chosen to participate in a G-SYNC preview. There are a few rules though.

Rule #1 - This giveaway is for FORUM CONTRIBUTORS ONLY. No one post wonders will be allowed to participate, and we will be carefully auditing post timestamps and counts of entrants to ensure that these modules will ONLY be going out to people who were already active members of the community BEFORE we said we were giving these kits away.

The rest of these rules are from NVIDIA themselves:

o   Must be qualified DIYer and contributor to your forums or site
o   The kit cannot be resold
o   The recipient must already have an Asus VG248QE monitor - NO OTHER MONITORS ARE SUPPORTED BY THE G-SYNC KIT AT THIS TIME
o   The recipient must perform the modification
o   The recipient must provide feedback on his/her G-SYNC gaming experience
o   The give-away is only available in the US and Canada.  The kit is not intended/suitable for end-user use or sale elsewhere.

Please post (200 words or less) why you think you should qualify to receive a G-SYNC module and how you plan to use it, and please keep the clutter out of this thread. We will pick winners as we see compelling posts come through so the giveaway will be closed once we've already given away all 5 of them.

Gomenasai got a reaction from yuh25 in Fan cable or splitter for H100i
Well... I would imagine that a Y splitter would work. If you've seen the back of a Corsair H100 non-i, you would see that it has 4 individual PWM fans connectors on the back. Its pretty much the same thing on the H100i. The Y-splitter isn't really splitting anything, its just an adapter. Since the pump does get its own power, I would imagine that the fans would work properly with a Y splitter on the "Corsair Splitter", its just that the RPM moitor would be monitoring only one of the fans. Just not that the Corsair Link software uses PWM fan control, so 3 pins would always run at close to max speed.

Gomenasai got a reaction from Vitalius in SEIKI Announces 39" 4K TV for $700
Probably because its a TV, its its intended to be used as a TV. HDMI was designed for large format projection mediums, DIsplayPort was meant for, well computer displays. HDMI and DP are supposed to compliment each other, not replace each other, so SEIKI took the HDMI route. I believe they are just jumping the gun and trying to get a product out in the market to get people to buy it, that is why they are using a standard that might not be the most ideal here... but from the reviews I've seen of their other 4K TV, I might be sold.
