Do Seasonic X-Series Gold Modular Cables work with Corsair AX-Series (First Gen)

Gomenasai

Hello all!

My friend had a Corsair AX850 Power Supply laying around and he decided to give it to me because he upgraded to an AX1200i. He gave me all of the modular cables that he had for the AX850 which was essentially everything except the PCI-E cables. I have a first gen Season X650 Power Supply. The Seasonic X850 is essentially the OEM product of the AX850. I've done a quick conenctor check and the X650 PCI-E, SATA, and Peripheral cables do fit properly into the AX850. The only conenctors that don't fit are the 24-pin and the 8-pin. I am using the X650 for my server, but its a server and does require the PCI-E cables. I want to install the AX850 into my main rig to replace my Corsair GS800.

tl;dr - Do first gen Seasonic X-Series Gold Modular Cables work with first gen Corsair AX-Series Gold (Minus AX1200 because Corsair's 1200 PSUIs are always different) Power Supplies?

I was looking at this thread from Overclock.net and they said that the PCI, Molex, and SATA cables are the same.

So... can anyone confirm or deny or suggest anything >.<? A single PCI-E 8-pin replacement from Corsair.com is about $8 and I really don't want to pay that much and have to buy 3 of them.

Only one way to find out... I wouldn't test it though...

it should work because they are 1:1 connectors.

No, they have different pinouts and the AX1200i is made by Flextronics not seasonic.

Sorry about that, I read your question all wrong the first time, the AX850 is a different story, yes the pinouts are the same as the X850 PSU and will work with the Corsiar AX850.

Thanks. This post makes me feel a bit better about testing it later. Are sure that the pin outs are the same? I will test regardless, it would just be a lot better if I knew for sure that it actually worked.

The PCI-E, EPS,SATA and molex pinouts are the same, the only one I would ever be worried about is the 24 pin and thats because even if the pinouts are the same ( which they are ) some of the wires may be orientated differently.

Great. Thanks. I will test it later just confirm everything and I'll report back.

  • 11 months later...

I know bumping old threads is taboo, but this question never got answered and I really need to know the answer...

I have a Corsair AX850 PSU (first gen), and I need another SATA cable for it.  And since nobody seems to carry just this single cable (including Corsair themselves) I was looking for alternatives to building the cable myself.  According to this thread the old AX850 is based on the Seasonic X-850 PSU, and supposedly the peripheral connector pinouts are identical between the two models.  The OP said they'd test it and report back but they never did...

So, can someone answer this question for me?  Will a Seasonic X-850 compatible SATA cable (like this one) work with a Corsair AX850 PSU?
