Do i get the virtual 7.1 surround if use sennheiser pc 363d with a Asus Xonar Essence STX

So basically i was wondering if i should just stick with the usb sound card or does the Asus Xonar Essence STX support the dolby virtual 7.1? I am not even sure if the Asus Xonar Essence STX is a 7.1 sound card and i could use some suggestions for a soundcard max price about 200e
It needs to be good with sennheiser pc 363d's And also is the sound card even worth it?

Personally I don't like Dolby's headphone surround.  You can look for YouTube videos like this one that compare various surround options for headphones.  I prefer the Razer Surround, which is software that they have a free version of.

I've used my 363D's for about 2.5 years now, i sold my pc 360's right after Linus' 363d review. I've played tons of games, watched movies and listened to music... Yes as we all now Sennheisers high-end headsets are a bit expensive as heck but I absolutly love them. If Sennheiser died I'd buy enough 363D's to last for the rest of my life! :)

Go with the surround sound as it is supposed to :) I don't see any problems with it tbh.

Just use the surround from the headset if you like that garbage.

The headset is USB because it has it's own D/A and DSP pipeline. Plugging it into a soundcard will bypass all of that. Even if the soundcard has virtual 7.1, it probably won't be the same and you may not like it as much.

I wouldn't recommend using virtual surround at all, but it's up to you.

I don't think anyone here can tell you for sure you will get the 7.1 with that setup

I can tell you if you get the asus card..make sure you use the modded drivers..since the offical asus ones are old and kinda dead

If you need remote help fixing something on your computer

I can help over Teamviewer if you wish

I just did. The surround in the sennehsier is only possible over usb because it is a DSP effect. Connecting the headset to a soundcard will no longer use that functionality.
