Eee PC Review (X101CH)

Djole123

So, here's my review of Asus X101CH Eee PC.

Specs are:

-Intel Atom N2600 Dual Core @1.6GHz

-1GB DDR3-800 RAM

-Hitachi HTS543232A7A384 5400 RPM HDD

-Intel GMA 3600 GPU

So, the CPU is bad. It lags in some really basic stuff:

For example: it can't play YouTube videos fine without cranking down to 144p (not the WiFi problem)

CPU usage is always 90+%

It's heating really quickly because it has no cooling

It has no drivers for Windows 10

It's overall not good

But pros are:

TDB of the CPU is only 4W, so battery life is great

A couple hours of battery life with 2600 MAh battery? Not bad!

It weighs only 1KG (2.2 pounds), which makes it super lightweight

It has both VGA and HDMI

It can handle 1080p

They are really cheap and small

Conclusion:

If you only need to get some some work done, browse or listen to music, Eee PC's are great for you.

Also, if you travel a lot, these are great aswell.

If you want to game (except for some games from the 90's which work great) this is what you should totally forget about. Minecraft is running at 2 FPS at lowest settings. LoL doesn't even want to run. Don't buy this, gamers.

This very review is written on it

In fact, I'm using my Eee PC as a daily driver for over 3 years now. I had some issues with the monitor but nothing else. I'm happy with it.

Hint: I got it for free. Not by sponsorship. This is my first personal computer

Nah, just decided that I don`t want any upgrade (for now). I`m not a gamer, so this dual core is fine for me. I just do browsing an Office work, and I call 7 FPS (what I get max in Minecraft when I have turned off huge amount of processes) "playable". So, I won`t be upgrading for probably a year.

And yes, I know that  AMD APU`s are good even for some light gaming (and I know they are cheap), but for reasons above, I don`t need an upgrade

Alright :) I see! PCs for office work are getting more demanding actually. Anyways, yeah... They are not too bad, the AMD A10 is amazing since I have it in my backup gaming rig :D But for a laptop for the future I recommend the Lenovo ThinkPad T450s it has 15.5 Hours of battery life and its extremely good for everything all round :D

  • 3 months later...

Yes, I'm reviving this thread.

I found something very weird on NCIX Tech Tips... Linus saying that the Eee PC is good!
