How to improve as an E-sport player?!

tismanasou
Go to solution Solved by ghostR,

I can only provide advise towards counter-strike or most fps games.

However the following applies to most games.

  • exercise & sleep are really important. Make sure to go for runs, maybe few push ups and general work. Sleeping is probably a big key factor over looked. If you get a good night sleep. You will generally have the stamina and power to get through the day correctly. (Going to bed at 2AM is not good for you).
  • Practice. Dedicate around 2 hours to learn new things. Spend time setting up proper screen resolutions. Mastering the keyboard and mouse movement.
  • Biggest mistake most (i want to go pro) people make. Is simply not applying what they have learned. You will forget it easily unless you actually use it.
  • Energy consumption. I have done multiple tests and generally. High energy = faster reactions and increases the Adrenalin pump you get. (dont overdose on monster energy please).
  • Make sure to take breaks. Play for around 3 hours max. Then take a break. Without it. You will get to use to the screen and generally become weary.
  • Play vs or with. People who are generally better than you. You will learn to keep up with them. If not, then. Back to the practice steps.

Again if you are talking about an FPS title i can be more specific. (If csgo i can be very specific)

Hello guys,

Any proffesional gamer here?(getting paid)

I would like to ask you guys a question. Are you just playing your game as a practice or theres any tips and excercises to improve overall performance and enchance things like: vision, reaction time, focus etc.

i only drink some coffee before my gaming , do you guys do any other things that could possibly make you better at what you play?

I don't care for "e-sports" really, but I think many people overlook a good night's rest.

Haven't played as pro but as competive (for fun and glory) for several years. First would help if you told what game you are going for. What you need to do depends per game. Like in HS you need to test and create decks, study your opponents and think ahead.

What I would say to any player. Practice, study, watch and learn. Watching professional streams and picking up what they do. Its easier for slow pace games like HS where you can argue each played card. But works in FPS games too. Would you have peaked, would you check one corner further etc. Study your own games. When you play match or pracc, watch it later and see how your opponents react to your decisions. In team games check if you could have done something differently and help your team more. Practice. In fps games shooting is obvious. But also other things. Map awareness, tactical thinking etc.

If you are asking about non-game activities. Most pros do physical training also. Like running, gym. Psycological things are mostly same as in other sports. How to handle pressure and take losing.

Practice, look at your demos, what did you do wrong when you died, dumb mistake or outskilled?

Don't just take a guess at "oh I'll just play all day every day doing nothing actively to improve" - do something actively to improve. I personally half quit CS GO. I've become too casual to actually do any good (SMFC at this point) and as ghostR said, become weary. My reaction times have decreased because of this, being a zombie in front of a monitor all day. I recently started exercising, it helped with some of my control in BF4, I haven't tried in CSGO.

TLDR (although you shouldnt need one)

Exercise (even going on a short 20min bike ride should be fine), practice actively instead of guessing you will slowly become skilled, look at your mistakes instead of assuming the guy is better than you, your team sucks, or he hacks.
