A few questions about how im going to setup my watercooling setup.

thekeemo
I (will) have 2 480mm EKWB radiators that I will be getting 1/2" barb fittings for

Some random 120mm rad I have with 3/8" barb fittings

A Laing D5 pump with 1/2" barb fittings

A swiftech Raystorm block that I will be using a meccano set to get it to work with LGA 1150

A peltier watercooler with 1/4" barb fittings and a 35mm thick fan

A cardboard box I use as a case

So my questions are:

1. What is some nice clear tubing that stays clear?

2. What is the best way to adapt fittings. My current idea is to place smaller tubing into the bigger tubing to get it to fit?

3. Are the 120mm rad and the peltier coolers going to be an issue because I have to adapt them?

4. Pump at the bottom, res below the top point of the loop, anything else?

5. Any cheap GTX 690 waterblocks?

6. Is it fine to use a plastic bottle with holes and hot glue as a res?

7. How should I setup the drain?

Thats that. If you need to get in touch chances are you can find someone that knows me that can get in touch.

Yes, and you can leave the cap poking through a rough hole in the top of the case for easy topping up :D

Solve your own audio issues  |  First Steps with RPi 3  |  Humidity & Condensation  |  Sleep & Hibernation  |  Overclocking RAM  |  Making Backups  |  Displays  |  4K / 8K / 16K / etc.  |  Do I need 80+ Platinum?

If you can read this you're using the wrong theme.  You can change it at the bottom.

@thekeemo how the hell did your broke ass manage to afford a custom loop?

You probably just became a drug dealer.

(and my dad may or not really want me to do a loop and he originally wanted to do it with car stuffs but I talked him down.. copper rads are pricey)

Awesome, and the rest...?

I was referencing a certain scrapyard wars build

So, yes, it will work, but it may not be the safest way to go, leak-proofing-wise

As for #2, also make sure those connections are really solid.  I'm not sure just shoving smaller tubing inside larger tubing will create a good enough seal, and if you try to squeeze that setup with a fitting or something, that could make it worse by possibly collapsing the inner tube, restricting flow and possibly "folding" it in a way that lets liquid escape.

Not sure about the rest.

I put the small short tube on the barb

I slide the main tube over it

I use a metal clamp to keep it sealed

For the res I'd probably use something like an hard plastic container and use plumbing fittings to have an inlet and outlet while creating a watertight seal. As for the tubing, some of the best stuff out there is the primochill stuff, which is pretty hard to beat.

For the 120mm rad with barbs I'm sure that will be aluminum so I would scrap that out of the loop unless your planning on running a compatible fluid.

It is copper thankfully.

And yay 2 questions answered.

And I did mean a hard plastic water bottle cutting holes into normal bottles doesn't sound fun

OK OKAY calm down the drain How i do is get one of these

https://shop.ekwb.com/ek-af-x-splitter-4f-g1-4-black-4579

use two of the holes for the loop fill the other one and get two of these

https://shop.ekwb.com/fittings/extra/ball-valves

to regulate flow and then whenever I need to drain the build I cut off the loop and open the other hole which leaks out somewhere

Just wondering what is the peltier 120mm cooler?

Oh also for the GPU block maybe get a thermosphere if you can't find a full cover block on the cheap, for adapting tubing if things are going to be different sizes ideally you want adapter fittings either from the hardware store or watercooling ones that can do different sizes.

Freezone Elite

It has a dead pump so I took that and the WB out and measured the barbs

uhh

The issue I see having with the adapters is that they dont clamp down and they just squeeze on there

Thats that. If you need to get in touch chances are you can find someone that knows me that can get in touch.

Ohh one of those units I remember seeing on of those one NCIX back in the day.

And not exactly that kind of thermosphere  :D

https://shop.ekwb.com/ek-thermosphere

For the adapters there are barbed ones basically or ones that are like this which use a sleeve on the interior to hold the soft tube rigid
