I suppose it depends where you sit in terms of graphics requirements.  Lowest vs. Ultra could save or cost you some serious money depending

No,

AMD GPUs did better than the Nvidia GPUs in the DX12 tests!

I'm pretty sure both sets of next gen cards support DX 12 fully. but the current ones only support parts of it.

No, nVidia cards fully support DX12... they just currently see 0 benefit from it in games (unlike AMD which has had a massive boost)

any reason why? seems retarded. So nvidia supports it but nothing happens but the AMD support gets a huge boost. that isnt support

CS:GO runs on the Source engine, which isn't exactly the hardest thing to run due to its optimization.

The theory is that AMD has had the last several years as "practice" for DX12 coming out, what with their work on Mantle, while nvidia has been sitting back optimizing their DX11 drivers, and now are like "oh right, people are gonna use DX12 aren't they" and so have just to get something out quick made a driver that maps DX12 calls to DX11 and thus no benefit... but I have no proof of this :)

It is a little bit over your budget. But not by too much. My friend competes with my 980 ti with his 2 way SLI GTX 760's. He picked them both up for a total of about $400 NZ which is like $250 US. But it was a really lucky buy.

But in saying that, 1 powerful card is always better than 2 lower cards.

You know what's weird?  We've got this as the current trend:

And yet, the entire time I've been on this forum I've seen nothing but Radeon selling left right and centre...

So... is that something that can be fixed with a driver update? I didn't drop $700 on a 980ti just to replace it in a year because of no DX12 support.

In theory it's entirely driver related.  I see no reason why nvidia shouldn't be able to get that same doubling of performance on existing cards.

Whether they will or not remains to be seen, but I think they would be suicidal not to try seeing as how everything is going to be going DX12 (or Vulkan) soon

no, even the gtx 780 support DX12.

But newer cards support it better.

So far there is no "full" support.

Some features are missing on every card but AMD's cards has shown the best support so far.
