Don't get sli 970's get a single 980.

Not really - for 2 970s - you need at least 650W and I recommend 700-750W - those cards use around 220W each.

The build? Not really - get a 4460, skip the cooler as the stock one is enough - get an EVGA G2 or GS - CS are mediocre.

Also - if you want dual GPU - get 2 390s - more than double the VRAM, more horsepower and flat out better offer for a CF build. They would need about a 750W PSU

VRAM doesn't stack - if you bought 4 970s you would still have 3.5GB usable VRAM since each card has to duplicate everything for itself

me neither, but i generally "prepare" builds for the case it might happen, which usually leads into Z97

True - but I generally advise people to stay away from CF or SLI

i'm more of an "it might happen one day" person.

 

imagine the 1000 series nvidia magically has perfect scaling. i'd pick up two cards if that happened.
