PC Build (Need Help) :)

Hi, I'm planning to build a pc for gaming and i have some questions about CPU's and power supply. I first though about get the Intel Core i5 4690k but then i realised that the i5 6600k is only a few dollars more expensive and newer but i don't really know much about CPU's so i don't really know if there is a big difference between them and which one will be best for me. Also I'm planning to get a 600W power supply but i don't know if it will be enough, i have plans to use two GTX 970 (SLI) in the future, also is it necessary to get a liquid cooling system?. i will leave a description of the PC i am going to build, any suggestions will be appreciated.

Thanks a lot for your help and your time.

i5-6600K and i5-4690k require different chipsets, I hear CX series PSU's have bad capacitors, also the i5-6600k requires a Z170 Chipset which is uses DDR3L or DDR4

Get an i5 4690k if Price to performance matters to you

Get an i5 6600k if Upgradability is important to you

That SSD is bad, get a Kingston HyperX Fury 120GB.

That PSU is not the best.

I don't know your budget.

If you're going Skylake (which I would do if building a new rig) get yourself a board like the Asus Z170A

Get 2x 8gb of DDR4 memory

I would probably suggest a little more wattage for SLI + watercooling. (especially if you end up cross-firing 2x 390, see below). Try and get EVGA G2 series or Seasonic, or even Fractal Design for your PSU.

I would take the AMD 390 over the Nvidia 970 GTX, its a slightly better card for around the same money.

I would not recommend a CX unit for such build, There's a reason why now there is a cloud of uncertainty over them. if you want to go SLI 970 in future i'd recommend something along the lines of a EVGA B2/GS or XFX XTR/Seasonic G, Cooler Master VSM.

There are Z170 boards that use standard DDR3 ram as well.

However if OP is making a new build rather than an upgrade, it would be a better idea just to jump into the DDR4 scene and take advantage of the higher speeds ect...

My suggestions based on your post OP:

CPU: Intel Core i5-6600K 3.5GHz Quad-Core Processor  ($229.99 @ Micro Center)
Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-Z170X-Gaming 5 ATX LGA1151 Motherboard  ($154.99 @ Micro Center)
Video Card: Gigabyte Radeon R9 390 8GB SOC Video Card  ($313.98 @ Newegg)
Case: NZXT S340 (Black/Red) ATX Mid Tower Case  ($84.98 @ Newegg)
Total: $1138.51
Prices include shipping, taxes, and discounts when available

I would suggest the 390 over the 970 personally but your call there.

the ssd (v300) is not very fast, and for a little more money, you ca get a lot better ssd.
