overheating amd fx 8320

hi i my computer keeps heating up to 65-80 degrees on the cpu and around 60-65 degrees on the mobo when i play demanding games and around 40-50 idle.

 

im running stock clock on the cpu at 3.5Ghz 4Ghz turbo. i have tryed to replace thermal paste many times. now i have the cooler master tx3 cooler on it. and my friend had the same cpu with the evo 212 cooler and had the same problem. what can it be ?

 

 

 

The temps are after ive played assassins creed unity for a while. all fans are at highest speeds.

 

Chassi: Fractal Design r3 runnig positive airflow but negative airflow have the same temps. every fan cover is removed.

Mobo Asus m5ar2.097

Cpu Amd FX 8320

Gpu Sapphire Radeon r9 290 tri-x

Power Supply Corsair rm750w

Cpu Cooler Cooler master TX3

I get 60C max under 4GHZ at 1.28V on stock cooler.

1- intel skylake cpus actually run hotter, 14nm chips are smaller and there is less surface area for heat transfer

2- AMD cpus give out more heat, but run cooler.

Go to the bios, disable TURBOCORE and downvolt. I have the same board and CPU as you and that worked for me. I used to get 44C idle/ 65C max with turbo core on and now at 4GHZ at 1.28V at 35C idle and 60C max with turbocore turned off.

Make sure you have good airflow within the case.

It all depends on aiflow, which is why I want a picture so I can optimize your airflow . I'm using a TX3 on my overclocked 8320, but before I overclocked I was hitting 55c under load with the fan speeds being reduced from normal.

ambient temps (room temps)? around 27-29c

 

i have 2 fans at  the front one at the back. cpu fan oriented to blow trough the top(it helped a bit)

max temperature recommended by amd for an 8320 is 62 and the max temp is 70.  So no, 80C is not safe.

This is why I went for a FX-8370 which has a 40-45c thermal margain and if I calculated it right then its at 32-37c!

My brother has the same crappy FX-8320. Same problem.

 

As far as I know, you either need a high end board with 8+2/8+4? phase cpu power section for 125W FX cpu's or you've got to put something really huge on to cool it.

 

My bro has bequiet shadow rock top flow which is simply gigantic but it works. Boxed cooler for this cpu is a joke.

I just wanted to post my numbers to dispel the mistruth that AMD chips run hot by default. The numbers you are shooting for are pretty low and shouldn't be a problem assuming all your hardware is installed correctly.

Just as I said - you've got to have a high end motherboard with proper cpu power section like your sabertooth (8+2). The thing is AMD should not let manufacturers let run FX cpu's on boards with lesser power section because it's really freakin' misleading. People who had a choice between a i7 + cheap board or cheaper FX + cheap board chose FX not knowing it will overheat by default since it saved them like $150.

 

And for the record - my brother's 8320 runs 45 degrees on idle with box cooler and goes up to 80 something and crash without that huge bequiet cooler on 4+2 which was supposed to run FX properly like the one that's in OP.
