Enjoy overclocking? Join the LTT hwbot team!

Lays

If you're into overclocking whether you milk every last ounce of performance out of your hardware, or you just do small overclocks, you may get a kick out of this website.

The link to the LTT team:

http://hwbot.org/team/linustechtipsforums/

The way the website works is, you compete against other people all over the world and gain points based on how well you do versus others with your hardware, or based on your hardware "category".

IE:  If you get 50th in the world on Cinebench R15 with an i7 4770k, you'd get "Global" points based on how well you did versus everyone else that has a 4 core CPU.

Say you also got the 10th fastest 4770k submission with that exact same score in Cinbench R15, you'll also get "hardware" points based on how well you scored versus other people with 4770k's.

The points you gain from submissions go towards your "League points" which ranks you globally + nationally + inside your League.  (Rookie/Novice/Enthusiast/Extreme/Elite)

It's neat to compare and compete against others, join the LTT team if you're interested, we need more members!

When you make your account you'll be asked if you want to join a team, find "LinusTechTipForums"

why are there two linustechtips teams?

I'm not entirely sure, I think the "linustechtips" one is an old team that nobody joined, so everyone left it to join this one.

It may also have been someone trolling and took the name perhaps.

Right. Time to get shit sorted and start getting more points. Targets I can hit so far are fastest 24/7 stable Pentium III on air, fastest Quadro NVS110M, only Core 2 Duo T7600, fastest Celeron M380, fastest Pentium M740.

So far I've earned 1.9 points for the team, 0.7 in benchmark rankings, and 0.6 in hardware rankings.

I've been meaning to join hwbot for a while but forgot about it, been busy modifying my rig to support the new overclock.

Although looking at the scores for my hardware looks like ill be able to smash the i5 3550 on air record easily.

I'll join when I'm complete with it, currently being held up by the freakishly hot british summer so ambient room temps have been like 27.5c according to the thermo stat.

you might as well join now tbh. there is no limit on how big you oc is to join and an efficient 4.8ghz score can beat an average 4.9ghz score. when you get higher scores you just resubmit with the higher score.

So I've been running some benchmarks and submitting to hwbot for the ROC OC showdown (I don't have high expectations) and now I'm at stage 3 (http://oc-esports.io/#!/round/rogocs_formula_r2/2326/hwbot_prime) and I see in the rules that all windows 8 results will be disqualified.  Any way around this?  other than installing a different version of windows?  if not what version are people using?  I assume I can get vista cheap and I might even have a working product key

edit: doesn't say in the first link anything about windows 8.  the hwbot rules page for hwbot prime say it thou

No, unfortunately LOTS of benchmarks on hwbot are windows 7 / xp only, because windows 8 can be modified to get higher scores in benchmarks by cheating.
