GTA 5 texture mods, can i get banned for them?

Like the title says can i install car mods (and keep them in multiplayer) without getting banned? I'd imagine it wouldn't as it is just textures, but you never know, has rockstar got a statement on this, whether or not its fine?

Textures are client side so I severely doubt R* would even be able to tell that you are using a texture mod. The only way they could tell was if the GTA V launcher scanned its files every time you started the game, which I can guarantee it does not do, purely because of how prevalent hacking still is in GTA Online. You're all good, play with no fear of ban hammers

No, it can only be seen from your end and it doesn't affect anyone else than you.

They don't seem to care too much about hackers which seem to be getting worse and worse. You should be right

I gave up with online..sooo many hackers..
I made the choice to not play online anymore and completely mod the shit out of it.

I'd be very careful.

 

Its true that its all client side stuff, so really to everyone else nothing has changed. What you do want to check is how these textures are applied.

If they are being injected somehow into the game (and to my knowledge most texture mods use this by using a loader to load the modified .rpf files), then it will depend on how R* checks.

If its just a simple "Oh he is loading stuff in, can't see what must be hax", then you could be banned.

If they can tell the modifications, then you may be okay, or they have no form of anti cheat and only ban due to reports, you'd be fine.

 

I'm sticking to SP modding for now, and use a mod manager to disable and remove all mods on MP launch, though I've yet to play any MP.

I'm sure it can be detected because you could have a texture pack where all walls were invisible meaning you could see through everything and get an advantage.

If you have to change anything in update.rpf or common.rpf then you run the risk of being banned...simples.
If you have scripthook installed along with other asi mods then you run the risk of being banned.

If you use any of the above methods in single player only and then remove them before you go online then you will be fine
