You could build a decent X99 PC for less, WTF corsair if people wanted this much they would buy 2 kits separately,  why you make it all in one package?

These are 16GB DIMMs. All other memory kits thus far, except Kingston's kit, have used 8 GB sticks, so you could put a maximum of 64GB in an 8-slot board.

I do not feel obliged to believe that the same God who has endowed us with sense, reason and intellect has intended us to forgo their use, and by some other means to give us knowledge which we can attain by them. - Galileo Galilei

It would have been nice for them to half the price and only included 4 sticks in a package because it would give more options to people.

Okay, the higher end 2666MHz kit costs more than my Dad's entire brand new 4790K rig when I built it in January. What the bloody F@Q?!

That's likely coming, but Corsair, like any business, wants to use price discrimination and block pricing as best it can to extract consumer surprlus. You just have to be willing to stare them in the eyes and wait it out.

Should have given it a few hours instead. There's already one.
