13" Aluminium chassis ultrabook (not Apple)

13chaz13

First off I live in Scotland

I'm in the mood for upgrading from a Toshiba laptop to an ultrabook and have decided that I really want one which has an aluminium body

I have looked around and haven't found much other than the Asus Zenbooks which I really dont want to buy because of the processors

So, the only other ultrabook I have seen which I like is the http://www.pcspecialist.co.uk/lafite 13.3" which looks rather nice and is configurable to what I would want

Any help is appreciated!

Why not Apple? You want a 13" ultrabook with an aluminium chassis which is exactly what they do best.

i think he doesn't do it mostly because they are expensive as crap made of solid gold.

I'm not an Apple fan but to be fair, there's not much difference in price for almost the same specs. I would get the Dell XPS too, but I think they're both overpriced for what they are.

I'll be honest the macbook is the reason I want aluminium, my girlfriend bought one recently and I like the way it feels, BUT I really don't want anything apple

The xps is really nice too, i need to check it out a bit more, thanks!

Get that brand hate mentality out of your head, it does nothing good for you. :) The 13" rMBP costs the same as a similarly specced XPS 13 but comes with a marginally better GPU, a trackpad that is absolutely worlds ahead and an OS that is so much better at handling the high resolution screen than Windows is. On top of that Dell batteries have an odd habit of dying or losing a severe amount of capacity within the first year (personal experience) whereas my almost 3 years old 15" rMBP still carries on for a good 7-8 hours.

Sigh...another thread about looking for a macbook alternative when the giant elephant in the room is the macbook itself.

I'm sorry I'm a bit tired of this.  Just get a Macbook Pro.  Apple makes damn good laptops, and don't let any stigma say otherwise.

I think they're fairly priced in the ultrabook market, and no other ultrabook/notebook has a better keyboard and trackpad

XPS 13. Or MBP. But those are in different classes. (The MBP has a 45W+ CPU)

Both are made with all the quality, and have very attractive designs. (Though the XPS may be more "Original" looking, and more portable)

Lisa ( ^ ) does this one very well.
