I recently built a system with a corsair cx430, intel pentium g3258 overclocked to 4.2Ghz, and an amd r7 250.  Would it be worth it to overclock my r7 250 with msi afterburner or is it not worth it?  Are there any problems that could happen when overclocking it?

same problems that can happen with any overclock.

stability, heat, etc.

overclock it if you feel good about it. read some guides, learn how, then try it. slowly

We can't Benchmark like we used to, but we have our ways. One trick is to shove more GPUs in your computer. Like the time I needed to NV-Link, because I needed a higher HeavenBench score, so I did an SLI, which is what they called NV-Link back in the day. So, I decided to put two GPUs in my computer, which was the style at the time. Now, to add another GPU to your computer, costs a new PSU. Now in those days PSUs said OCZ on them, "Gimme 750W OCZs for an SLI" you'd say. Now where were we? Oh yeah, the important thing was that I had two GPUs in my rig, which was the style at the time! They didn't have RGB PSUs at the time, because of the war. The only thing you could get was those big green ones.

I mean if your system is fine on heat then it won't really hurt to overclock it. If you are fine on graphics there is no need though.

Well overclocking the GPU isn't that risky compared to cpu overclocking. So just read some guides and things that are already suggested and don't worry, Unless you overvolt it, you should be fine

it should be able able to overclock but to safe do it gradually by .05v/50 mhz and see if is stable while running games/programs that what i did for my gtx 750 ti, also know your gpu limit for nvidia it usually caps at 80-85c and amd at 90-95c, but every has there preferred temp like for me it's 75c because the summer where a live can get hot.

If you have enough cooling and if you need the extra performance yes.

If you don't need the performance no.

unless ur willing to improve your cooling on it i wouldnt lol one hot summer day vs a overclocked video card, let just say hot summer day won lol

but if ur doing it to a 250 its probably like trying to pimp out ur pinto

u can OC it, its pretty hard to ruin your card, the computer will prevent itself from damage by heat etc.

The long term life of your card will probably be minorly impacted, soo instead of it lasting 5 years before dieing it will probably only last 4. if your worried about heat you can install another fan in your case (assuming you have a free slot) for relatively cheap (like $10) and thatll lower the temps a bit

just remember its an entry level card and even CO'ed it wont be anywhere near as powerful as a 270 or 290

note: This should be in the gpu section but its all good :P
