7970 or R7 250X

dialgarocksful

What would be better on FPS per dollar or its retail price itself?

Side specs:

Athlon X4 860K

4GB Kingston 1600MHz (Will add another 4GB later on)

PSU - will determine upon final choice of GPU. 500W if 7970, 450 if R7.

A decent 500W unit should be enough. Just make sure it ain't some crappy generic ones.

r260x is a better fps/dollar purchase. with that said, 7970>250x, 7970<260x.

What? A 260x is much much much worse than a 7970. A 260x is a rebranded hd 7790.

Thats not how it works, A 280x is actually faster than two 250x. Its around 70-80% faster. The numbers are used as a naming scheming and to give a general idea on performance (i.e 280x is faster than the 260 because a greater number).

What? Performance is not dictated by the numbers on the branding.

I was corrected.
