New update the pc is still alive but barely. Takes a good 20 seconds to boot to the bios screen.

The systems boots to Windows. And did the psu swap and tested the Vantech psu to be working too with the paperclip test. So it was not the psu at fault.

As i am posting the update. I am doing a HDD backup of my data from the IDE drives. Also when i went to the pc store to purchase the QX6700.

It was no longer there and the salesperson told me it was sold... Now my heart sank when I heard that. The only cpu that is lga775 and a quad core is the q8200 but that will cost me $150. In addition the casing and cooler will add up to around $350. Now i am looking at a total cost of $692 for the whole thing which includes mobo and cpu at $230 + $112 RAM and $350 for cooler and casing. Even if i subtract the casing and cooler buying. I am over budget by $100.

And things in the house decides to break down and my phone is dying too.

Paycheck may have came in but my overtime will only be paid the next months. So i really short of cash after paying my study loans and daily expenses. Not to mention the fixed amount for my parents to use for the household. Everything that i have planned out is falling apart.

I either have to push back the build to save up more or can this project due to the high cost. FML... :(:(:(

Just for one last time before the mobo dies again

i did a OC on the CPU and see how high i could go with the last leg of the cpu and mobo

with a mild tweak

the Core 2 Duo is clocking at 3.19GHz

oldschoolcool ;)

problem is now that the QX6700 i was suppose to buy is gone

i don't really see a point to keep the LGA775 given that the mobo is on it last leg and swapping to the Q8200 will cost as much as a new i3 Haswell CPU

sucks to be you man :(

hope you get something sorted. if you have all the other components then it shouldn't be too hard to find a decent CPU mobo RAM combo for $200.

  • 2 weeks later...

well new update

My friend was able to get for me 3 mobos! :o

2 of which are AMD AM3 boards which one is DDR2 and the other DDR3

the CPU is Phenom but unsure of the exact model as they are mounted with heatsink fan from scythe mugens

the DDR3 AM3 is Asus M4A785TDV-Evo

the DDR2 is unknown as there is no markings and could be an OEM board from Foxconn

the Intel Board I will be getting is the Gigabyte GA-EP45-UD3 which is based on the P45 chipset

I will bring my PSU to his house for further testing and verify the Phenom CPUs and if the Intel board works.

@harrynowl

you think with the P45 will I be able to push the E7200 to higher speeds?

I am looking at ebay for used Quad Extreme CPUs

Stay Tuned

P45 will definitely help you push higher speeds than G41 :)

But the DDR3 AMD board with a Phenom wouldn't be too bad :)

question is thou what Phenom CPU is in the socket?

if its just a dual core, it will be a bummer

if it the x6 version

i will be jumping around the house

i will take a photo once i am at my buddy's home

bringing along my CPU, DDR2 RAM and the Vantech PSU to test

strangly the PSU turns out to be working normally with the paperclip test

paperclip test doesn't guarantee how well the rails work, only that it turns on :P

i do know the PSU is not 80 plus rated and if you see the pictures of the stickers the +12 volts wattage is around 300+ watts

good for a single GPU which uses one 6 or 6+2 pin PCI-E plug

the rest is just barely there

Ok here is the update of the mobos

the so called unknown Red/Black board is from the Company J&W and the Board model is JustWoot! JW-790GX-Extreme

the CPU used is the Phenom II X3 730 and the Asus AM3 board is using the Athlon X2 550

so I was looking at the Intel Board and my buddy told me it got a CPU and Intel cooler

the moment we fire up the board

we are surprised it got a Q6600 inside :o

pop open the cooler and saw it using a copper center similar to what @Slick uses

Then I went to my usual haunt to look for cooler and guess what I found!!!

The QX6800!!!

Will start the buildup tmr

Teaser Pics as included below

first pic is the Q6600
