Decently priced 4k photo camera?

I'm looking for a good camera for 4k photos,Possibly 30fps video. I'm looking for about 500$ or cheaper.

If we can't think of one like this maybe something at the same price but with changeable lenses and just a good camera?

4k Photos?

4k is video. Megapixels is photos.

Thanks for the correction. What mega pixel would I be looking for?

Anything with higher than 8.3mp is '4k' pretty much. Typically low end DSLR's have around 12-18mp or higher. I'd recommend a Nikon D3300 for your budget.

Probably around 18mp+ or so, but camera MP doesn't necessarily mean sharpness because your lens comes into play as well. If you have a cheap lens that isn't very sharp you're still going to get maybe 5-10mp of sharpness, and if you have a 12mp camera and you get an incredibly sharp lens you're still going to have not very sharp images (relative).

At this point, 20mp or more would be good. However, a TON of youtubers and people I know use this: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00B5HE3UU/ref=as_li_qf_sp_asin_il_tl?ie=UTF8&camp=1789&creative=9325&creativeASIN=B00B5HE3UU&linkCode=as2&tag=internetkille-20With pretty good video too.

Any cheap DSLR like the Canon T3i/T5i or Nikon D3200/D3300 should suffice. The Canon should be better in video though.

If you're looking to get 4k video then the cheapest cameras I know that can do that are the Panasonic LX-100 and the Panasonic FZ1000. (Yes, you can record 4k on some smartphones but its terrible).

If you're looking to get something for stills, ignore the megapixel number. Any modern DSLR will have sufficient resolution for stills work. Focus more on things like dynamic range, iso performance and most importantly a quality lens.

I like the Panasonic FZ1000 would you or anyone recommend it?

Personally, no.

Both the FZ1000 and LX100 are fixed lensed. The LX100 has the faster lens while the FZ1000 has a longer zoom. I wouldn't get into 4K video unless you could at least afford a GH4.

Well then do you have any non fixed lens cameras that you would recommend?

Look into getting a used D5200 or D3300.

Then you'll want to get your hands on a cheap fast prime. Such as this

You could also go the Canon route and find a used T4i and then get a 50mm f1.8

http://www.amazon.com/Canon-50mm-1-8-Camera-Lens/dp/B00007E7JU/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1422666125&sr=8-1&keywords=canon+f1.8

I recommend against getting a mirrorless camera as a budget option. The bodies themselves are great but you'll be hard pressed to find cheap lenses with fast apertures.

Alright, thank you. Would you be able to tell me what the upgrade from the d3300 to the d5200 would be?
