Sennheiser U 320 vs Audio-Technica ATH-M30X

Go to solution Solved by NannerBeans,

The Sennheiser ones, are really good have more bass than the Audio technicas, however lack a little in mids and lows not as much, but just a little. The Audio-technicas apparently have amazing balance between mids, highs and lows, their bass doesn't compete with the U 320s, but have a really good balance. It lacks a mic, however it also seems they are more comfortable than the U 320 and have a more durable build. U320 = $99 and the ATH-M30X = $109, so the 518's are $20 more than the M30X.

I would say yes the $20 extra is worth it then. If you want a more balanced sound signature then I suggest you look at the Sony MDR 7506 or Shure 440 with 840 pads.

I'm about to get one of these headsets for christmas and I'm a bit stumped as to which one, I primarily game, however I do like my music and have been getting into a lot more movies lately. So I've come to you guys for help! :)

M30X doesn't have a Mic, so it isn't a headset.

eh sorry about that, my bad.

Neither of those are particularly good. Not sure of prices in Aus but maybe the Sennheiser HD518?

found them for $129, something I'm willing to pay, are they that much better than both the cans I mentioned?

How much more are they than the others? Because the Sennheiser one looks like something that just works if you need a headset and not one that sounds particularly good although I haven't heard much about it and the M30x is a very budget option from AT and usually not recommended.

I picked up a deal over the weekend, ATH-M30x's for $50 they retail for $70 at the moment.

Surprisingly good headphones, very little behind $100 contenders. I'll check back in if there is anything to report.

This is LTT. One cannot force "style over substance" values & agenda on people that actually aren't afraid to pop the lid off their electronic devices, which happens to be the most common denominator of this community. Rather than take shots at this community in every post, why not seek out like-minded individuals elsewhere?
