Ghost cars are becoming a reality, thanks to Jaguar!

Remeber those ghost cars you use to chase around your favorite track in Gran Turismo 4? Jaguar does, and they're bringing this idea to the real world with what they're calling "360 Degree Virtual Urban Windscreen".

The Windshield uses creamers to create "Transparent" pillars which highlight threads you cant see, Virtually eliminating blind spots.

The screen also generates a ghost car which you can follow instead of using a GPS. This technology is still in developments and most likely wont live up to the sleekness that's shown in their concept video, Oh well at least its a step in the right direction.

This is fantastic! i personally never liked the way a GPS Interacts with you (Vocally) and this seems like something that could change we navigate. I wonder what impact this will have on cutting down on accidents.

Its freaking great how the lights in Europe first change from red to amber and then Green, in the US and Mexico you have to be staring at the other light to guess when it's going to change. Good technology tough, I wouldn't use it even if I could afford it.

It's just for GPS :(

I was hoping that you could actually see a ghost of your previous time around a track.

Still cool though and it shows that could be possible.

Eh, the ghost car isn't that interesting to be honest. People have enough trouble comprehending what's on the road, I don't need someone so fixated on following the car on the windscreen that they completely ignore everything else around them. I think a subtle HUD is much better, a la what BMW does.

The transparent pillar design idea is pretty good though, and honestly I think it'll be exactly as shown. Wouldn't be that hard.
