Making a Custom Case

Unilision

So I've looked around, asked questions here and there since I joined the forum, and while learning about building Pc and such I'm curious at this point, how would you make a custom case? I see some build logs with scratch builds and it makes me want to "Attempt" doing one as well

However I have no where or rather no idea where to start, so here's my questions:

What would you make it out of?

What would you use to make it?

What would you consider a priority inside the case while making?

Where would you find all the measurements to cut the holes to make sure mounting things like motherboards, reservoirs, and etc?

Is there any guides on how to find any of these information or if you guys have any idea ?

Any help would be appreciated and thank you

Making a case is probably one of the hardest and easiest things to do.

Grab a piece of paper and sketch it. I always spent my study hall classes sketching desks and cases/testbenches.

Make whatever you think will look good to you. Rearrange things however you want. Want a PSU overtop of your GPU? You can do that!

Yeah I have been playing around with sketchup for the past month, putting together and rebuilding a design since there's always something that I feel could be better, however during the times when I don't work on a design I try to figure out what to do next, since it be good to know and start once I finally get hold of what I come up with

Just make sure you remember to put in a hdd/ssd cage/bracket

I applaud your ambition.

Here's my custom case:

It's about as complicated as I could build it. Consists of 130+ individual laser-cut pieces, so took a while to put together. It's far from easy. Now when you take on a project like that you need to tailor it to your specific situation. Take a good look and see what materials and manufacturing processes and tools are available to you. Next design the way the airflow will go. Design the motherboard tray and PSU mountings. Plenty of templates on the net on how to do that. Come up with vibration absorbing hdd mounts. Decide whether or not you want an optical. Look into sound dampening. etc etc. You can make it as complicated or simple as you like, and if you can pull it off it's extremely rewarding.

I cannot be held responsible for any bad advice given.

I've no idea why the world is afraid of 3D-printed guns when clearly 3D-printed crossbows would be more practical for now.

My rig: The StealthRay. Plans for a newer, better version of its mufflers are already being made.

Well fist you make a scale model 3D render of your design using blender or something of the like.

All the measurements either you get online by using google or you buy the components and measure them yourself.

Then you use a laser cutter and CNC machine to cut the separate pieces from the render.

Then you paint and assemble everything according to your 3D render.

Then you build the PC inside of it.

Yeah that's what I've been doing as of late on Sketchup, figuring out what kind of design I like the most,

once I'm done that, I have access to some laser cutter and CNC machine to make the case :P

Though I'm still learning how to make 3D render better and realistic sadly

Thanks for the advice though & @ManWithBeard1990
