Making cheap RAM look better.

clementk

I just made a post on how i made a I/O cover and then i just made some ram covers as i am using ugly blue and i wanted to make them fit in better as i need to get other ram latter to fit my build( this is just a temperature thing just becouse i wanted to do something and show its easy to do some mods and don't always need lost of money to do somethings)

ok so firstly i got a transparency paper/plastic and a measured the ram and made a test piece from paper and then i cut out all the transparency to much the size of the paper.

on the ram i only wanted to do one red strip so i put some type on it. and started to paint it red follow by black.

after this i then gently toke them off and started to add them onto the RAM to do this i used very small amount of silicon(as it is none conductive and it can be removerd ** WARNING ** if you use glue that is to strong you can rip the chips off of the RAM if you try to remove them again **)

then i added them back and now it looks a bit better for now will still be replacing them after i recover from the watercooling gears :D

Hope this helped or inspired someone to grab some paint and start to mod :D

Looks nice... Are there any performance differences with the transparency on the chips?

Elpida RAM...Did not know that it existed.

Our Grace. The Feathered One. He shows us the way. His bob is majestic and shows us the path. Follow unto his guidance and His example. He knows the one true path. Our Saviour. Our Grace. Our Father Birb has taught us with His humble heart and gentle wing the way of the bob. Let us show Him our reverence and follow in His example. Aren't Elpida and Hynix the two major RAM chip makers? Anyway, I quite like them although I do object to the idea of having fake heat spreaders :D

I cannot be held responsible for any bad advice given.

I've no idea why the world is afraid of 3D-printed guns when clearly 3D-printed crossbows would be more practical for now.

My rig: The StealthRay. Plans for a newer, better version of its mufflers are already being made.

I think ebay has some cheap ram heatsinks for like 2 dollars a piece, however they come from Hong kong and therefore take forever. There is also more expensive offerings from EK, the monarch heatsinks cost like 15 when on sale, and they are sexy. But your idea is brilliant, couldn't have thought about this myself.

@clementk embedding pictures doesn't put more load on the server as long as the images weren't posted by attaching files with the Full Editor.
