Cossfire GPU

So I recently bought a second graphics card for my PC the other day and when I went to put it in and hook it up I realized that I don't have the 6 pin or 8 pin power cables in my PC since I have a modular power supply and the other cables are at home. I am at college and wont be going home for about a month, so I was wondering if I put the card in now if I could set up crossfire and it would be fine just the card would work as well or will this damage the card and I should just wait.

Just wait since it won't work without power anyway.

The card needs that power. You could buy an adapter that converts molex into 6 or 8 in PCI-E.

It will not work. I'm not sure if it will damage the card or not but I wouldn't recommend trying.

Yup, molex adapters are your friend. Without power the card wouldn't do much... (it maybe serves as a coaster)

it wont work this way, your pc wont even boot.

you could get molex to 6/8pin adapters as a temporary fix, they come with most graphics cards but are very cheap as well.

but if your powersupply doesnt have to right plugs it most of the times a sign that you should upgrade your psu, so yeah you might want to take a look into that.

He did say this though: "I don't have the 6 pin or 8 pin power cables in my PC since I have a modular power supply and the other cables are at home"

So I'm guessing his PSU does have the right plugs, they just aren't present atm.
