Superducky's big upgrade, Define R4 Almost blacked out!

superducky94

Hey all, thought you might enjoy a little build goodness. I'll keep the text to as much of a minimum as I can, I promise!

This is really a late post, I should have documented the build when I finished it, it's been done for way too long now. So this was my first build here. It was a lot of fun and I learned a lot, but of course I got the upgrade itch. It started with just getting a Define R4, then it turned into a whole system upgrade, including some new peripherals. I also went full water cooling. It has been a blast. Let's start with the spec:

-Fractal Design R4 Windowed Black
-AMD FX 8350
-EVGA GTX 780
-16GB Mushkin Blackline Memory
-Gigabyte UD3 Revision 3.0 Motherboard; don't buy this!
-Corsair TX 650 PSU
-120GB Samsung 840 Evo SSD
-1TB WD Blue Hard Drive

Water Cooling
-EK AMD Water Block
-EK 780 Full Cover Water Block and Back Plate
-EK Pump/Res Combo
-8x EK Straight Fittings
-2x Alphacool 90* fittings
-1x Alphacool 240mm x 30mm Thick Radiator
-1x Alphacool 240mm x 60mm Thick Radiator
-5x Corsair SP 120 Fans

And here are some pictures. I'm no photographer and I only have an iPhone 5S, but I have seen people do some pretty great things with just an iPhone. I was using this app called VSCO cam and it has a huge amount of features that you can tinker with, very cool. As such I like some of the pictures much better than others, but oh well. If anyone has any tips or guides to take better iPhone pictures or just pictures in general that would be super cool to see!

Either way, here we are:

As you can see my idea was to go all black with this build, if only the Define R4 blackout had been out when I built it. There are a number of things that I would like to do as well as a few problems with the build, but nothing is going to be happening with it any time soon. For instance, you may have noticed that I told you not to buy my motherboard, myself and many others have had serious problems with it, you can find topics about it here. That's my biggest gripe with the build, but I am fine dealing with it how I am because most other AMD motherboards are just so ugly! And not all black. I figure the next thing that I do will probably be a big system upgrade anyways, so I'm fine with that for the time being. I'd like some better lights, these are pretty lack luster. I'd like them to be blue as well, white is over-rated. I think that's the majority of what I have to say.

I hope you guys enjoyed it, questions and comments are great!

Thank you kindly :)

That was certainly the allure of that beauty. I haven't seen too many all black builds, I think the Primochill tubing looks really nice as well. Maybe some day I'll grab some spray paint and get those bits of white out of there.

Thanks for all of the positive feedback, you all were really fast!
