Pentium G3258 is it worth it?

If you get a bundle with a MOBO for 100 bucks it's worth it. I was planning on getting a bunch of dust collecting drives and making a freeNAS with it.

yes...of course...if you test an overclocked FX CPU against any intel cpu with a stock GTX 670 at 1080P they perform the same...indeed...his first sets of benchmarks where absolutely trusty.

Also should be pointed out that he tested mostly multi-threaded modern games.

I don't trust him. He seems biased on AMD...

Its not worth for gaming. 2 cores will run into issues with newer games. It more suitable for media pc or OC enthusiasts.

As long as you OC it it's going to be really worth the buck.

Remember that it's a low budget option. If you don't like OCing and have a higher budget, get the i5 4670 or 4690 non-K version.

I would say the G3258 is worth it if you plan to upgrade the processor ASAP

If your not comfortable Overclocking I would recommend the Pentium with a MSI Z87 or Z97 motherboard that has an OC Genie button.

I run my browser through NSA ports to make their illegal jobs easier. :P
If it's not broken, take it apart and fix it.

I have just got myself a G3258 and am using it with a GAZ87X -OC. It works ok but am having a LOT of problems with the MB.

I just got a G3258, and man It's not running Bf4 very well, running with an R9 270, @ 3.8 ghz, running in 30 fps on low, with the CPU load @ 100%...

I am  MCCCXXXVII
