Yes, out of a cardboard box. Cause I didn't have any other case to build that system in. It was just an old Pentium D mobo+CPU with reused so nothing to lose really, Worked fine actually, quite decent temps with one 120mm intake and one 80mm exhaust.

Ofc i made my own case i'm using it right now

this is my very first self made case from wood https://linustechtips.com/main/topic/44548-wood-case-first-self-made-finished-1109/

it was not as easy than i looks like but i'm planning on making a 2nd one be patient it may take up to 14+ hours easy before it is complete

make sure you got every detail planned because i went to fast and forgot about things and made my case with compromises.

if you want some info about anything feel free to ask i'm glad to help you where i can

And some aluminum:

All made using basic woodworking tools.

Have fun!

How would you add the rear pcie slots, front usb, audio, and power button. How would you mount the hard drive and optical drive?

Nice case!

- for the pci slots you can drill a line thru the wood so that it stays on his place and screw it from outside to inside to lock it in place.
- front usb i thinked about that to best to place it in my head is make sure the holes are just the same size as the usb headers and make a platform if its huge to support it and glue it to that or double side tape, if you tape it make sure to have a support at the back of the usb ports that you don't push them loose and make them fall inside your case.
- audio would be just glue since they are small or if you find the with flat head and screw on the back that you can press your wood between.
- powerbutton of mine is with a screw on the backside.

hard drives i used some elastic type of band or cord to hold them in place but i don't really like it i have a better solution. depends on how many hdd you want (not for ssd) make a rectangle in wood from bars around 9mm and create a frame this kind of frame to hold them and add anti vibration tape inside and bottom that it fit exact
